If you are charged with a crime an sent to prison yet your files have your name misspelled does that mean you?

are free to walk? i was arguing with my father about it and i want to set the record straight, the misspelling does not matter, or does it!!???

thanks for input guys, on the news it said some guy got deported to mexico from us prison and he wasnt even mexican, this is why the argument started, but once again thanks for the input

They can send you to prison with the name John Doe or Micky Mouse, so long as the evidence says it was you that committed the crime.

The misspelling won't matter.

Your a number in the system, not a name. Your SS#, inmate#, etc.

A slight misspelling of your name is irrelevant.

1. You are NEVER sent to prison because you are CHARGED with anything. You only go to prison after you are CONVICTED.
2. Clerical errors do NOT void a trial or a sentence.

They go by social security numbers.

I have a bestfriend who has the exact same name as his dad and grandpa. They got a warrant out for his arrest and he tried to argue he was R. Jones The 3rd and not the second like on the warrant and they still took him in since the SSN matched.
