Find answers to your legal question.

If you cause damage in a hotel by accident ,?

for instance ,if you spill liquid on something electrical and blow all the plug sockets in your room ,are you liable for the cost of repair?

You are liable for the damage plus liquidated damages to the hotel for the loss of revenue * the number of nights they are unable to rent the room.

Here's something for you to consider .... Are you liable for the damage to a rental car if you accidently slam it into a telephone pole? Of course you are.

Sorry, I know this is not what you are hoping to hear. But the fact remains, you are responsible. Sorry.

Unfortuantly, yes

Of course you are.

I would think so...

Yes, absolutely.

Love Canada.
Why not, you can say a deliberate act was an accident

Hookit
A decent person would go and offer to pay for the damage, the hotel did not cause the damage so why should they pay for a clumsy guest who causes damage. Most hotels would if the person offers to pay for the damage would not take the money.
This is more about doing the right thing than who should pay are you a decent person if so pay up and leave it at that,?

Yes and if you have home insurance for your own home there is usually a 'civic liability' clause which covers you for this kind of claim.

I would say yes. Like you are responsible for any accident you cause.

i wouldn't get to upset, im sure they have insurance. just like if your shopping and drop a jar of fruit, they wont charge you.

Jack S
Yes, most hotels require a credit card number, and will charge you for any repairs needed. Other hotels require a deposit which you get back if the room is not damaged.

vote_usa_first
Yes, your accidental damage wont pay for themselves. Also, there is probably a contract you signed, requiring you to take all responsibility.
