I would make a law that every law must be reviewed every 5 years and be re-certified or removed from the books, and that any legal officer who violated any law must be publicly humiliated and heavily fined.

The government, all forms, federal, state, county and city, have to hold themselves to the same standards and follow the same rules and regulations imposed on the general population.

I agree with in-the-biz with one exception. "Congress shall pass no law without repealing two others" should be a Constitutional amendment. If not, it will be the first law repealed.

Any law you need a lawyer to tell you if you have violated is a bad law. Any country with more laws than the average person can read in 1 year, has too many laws.

It would be the STUPID clause. If your crime is so blatantly stupid,like writing a ransom note on your own bank receipt, you should be deported to Greenland. If the offense is capital, instant execution by catapult.

Please understand ...I am serious ...
I would pass a law (maybe with a sunset clause five - ten years from now) that for ever new law passed, the legislative body (local, state or federal) would have to remove 2 laws passed previously.

We have laws coming out our ears - "can't dance backward, can't drink anything after 10PM, etc." (Yes, you can access all kinds of nonsense). It's time we clean up the mess created by over 2 hundred years of politicians and political BS.

No offense to anyone but I personally don't think that women under the weight of 140 lbs should drive SUV's. Every time I pass one with a female driver it's like they have a vendetta against me and my little car. I know freedom of choice is nice but freedom of giving it a second thought before you buy it would be great. I know this was rather corny heehee :)

I think that the law I would put into force would be one that whether people had insurance or not, they would get the medical treatment they need. Reason for this: several people I know recently had to have very expensive procedures/medications that the insurance company would not pay for. The hospitals and doctors wanted their money up-front or they wouldn't render treatment. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars. These people died. I think that there should be a law that people do not have to pay upfront for medical treatments and/or the state should be able to help with excess money

I have a couple of good ideas.

First, I'd make it mandatory for people to get a license to drive a two-wheeled vehicle (scooter or motorcycle) before they could get a license to drive a car. This would make everybody MUCH better drivers, would increase our collective fuel efficiency, and would alleviate many parking problems.

I would also make it a requirement that to graduate high school you would have to pass a basic first-responder/EMT-type course, demonstrate that you can balance a checkbook, and be able to cook dinner.

Next, I would institute a mandatory year of public service. It could be in the military, teaching, on a fire crew, picking crops, doing construction on public works projects, working for the police, doing counselling, helping out in an ER, whatever, but for one year you do what is needed for just your room and board, plus maybe a small stipend for encouragement. That would fill many of the jobs that native-born Americans seem to be too lazy to take, and which are currently filled by illegal immigrants.

Finally, at crosswalks in the city, I would install those little spike strips they have in parking lots when they only want you to go one way opr the other. When pedestrians are about to enter the crosswalk, lights could flash green, then yellow, then red, and when it's red the spikes come up and anybody who blows through the crosswalk loses a few tires. A couple of pedestrians are killed every year in my town by people who are in too much of a hurry (see my first suggestion).

I think it should be a law that it should be totally legal to vandalize any car with its alarm erroneously going off but just until the noise stops.

Smoking should only be allowed outside and the highest taxes on tobacco as possible. That will make many smokers kick the habit.
