If you didn't want to be on a jury, how would you go about getting out of it?

Ah come on. I bet you'd enjoy being on a jury. What if you were on trial? Wouldn't you want people on your jury who were willing participants.

Just after you report for jury duty, the group of prospective jurors will be questioned by both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.

Tell both attorneys that you think lawyers are nothing but trained liars and I guarantee you that you will not be chosen to sit on any cases.

Nobody wants to do jury duty and everyone wants to get out of it...but you can't unless you are hospitalized...and you'll get rescheduled anyway. It is your "civic" duty and everyone gets tapped to do it. I've been called 8 times and placed on two juries. It proved to be quite interesting I must say. Once done you won't want to get out of it again...someone's gotta do it.

easy, when they ask if you will have predujice in the case, simly say, not unless it's a *****, or a queer!!! That'll get you out of jury duty, fast!!!

ask your boss to write them a letter saying that there is no way possible that you can get off work. write them a letter stating that you have x amount of kids, you wife works, and you don't have another car, nor a babysitter and you don't have the money or resources to pay or ask someone to watch your kids. she is the sole provider, and your must do you fatherly duties.

Make up something, like its agaisnt you religious beliefs. Act as though you are biased to one side. Get a doctors certificate to say your sick everytime they ask you to come in. Act like a wierdo, dont beak any laws though. Fall asleep at the court

tell them that your races or if you have criminal record let them know a felony will not allow you to serve on a jury

I think you should just go.. but if you have to get out. then tell them that you cannot sit and judge another person. Also what worked for me is that my cousin is an lawyer. Also one person I know answered the jury questionnaire sounding like a nut.

If you have a good reason for not wanting to serve, contact the courthouse with the phone # included in your summons and talk to them about what's going on. If you have no good reason you can either choose to degrade your own character by lying about it, or you can be a grown up and show up for selection.
Presenting yourself for selection is no guarantee that you will be chosen for a jury. In fact, most people who are summoned are rejected as inadequate for jury duty. Also, many cases that move through the jury summons process are still settled in a plea agreement, and you don't have to do anything anyway.

Here what I did and it worked .I am a housewife who volunteer my full time at public school and community so The Commission allowed me not to serve and free from jury duty.I do not mind to serve in the future when my three children go to college.

They wilol ask you if you have physical maladies or family hardships (i.e., do you take care of a child, parent, etc).

I would beg my boss to make a call to the judge saying that I absolutely HAD to be at work and he couldn't get things done without me!! It's worth a try :-)

See a doctor and express your concerns and get him to give you a note to excuse you.

I can spot guilty folks right off but I never get to serve on a jury. Kinda makes me sad considerin' the world would be a safer place if I was on a jury.
