If you oppose abortion, Would you give up some personal freedoms/privacy if abortions were made illegal?

Say abortions were going to be made illegal. In exchange for being made illegal, every mother/family would be investigated by Social services to make sure the child could/would be cared for financially, physically, and mentally. If not, the child would be placed in foster care or an adoptive home.

So the question, if abortion were to be made illegal, would you accept being investigated if you have a child?

And if you were financially able....would you be willing to take a child into your home if it were taken from his birth mother because she was deemed not able to care for her child? Would you take a child of another race?

A better option (that this question inspired)

Make abortions illegal but in exchange we institute mandatory surgical sterilization after the first pregnancy resulting in a live birth if you are single (for both parents) and after the second for married couples.

This will encourage marriage, adoption, and not having kids for the sake of welfare all in one fell swoop.

Depending on who investigates there wouldn't be enough Foster Homes. Some would put the financial bar higher then most people will reach. It's not that it is totally unfair, you should have savings and all that, it's that most don't have the money but manage to make it work with what they have.

Anyway I am against Abortion but I don't want it to be illegal, too many would try to do it anyway, so I don't care what they do to people who want it to be illegal(since the majority don't want it illegal it doesn't matter anyway).

Depends what the "investigation" entails. I have no objection to schools or social workers making sure that parents are taking care of their children. But it should not be too invasive.

And I really don't see the connection between this and abortion.

First of all, it would take an inordinate number of social service agents required to investigate every home prior to someone becoming a parent. The tax burden required would be ridiculous. Second, there's no way people would accept that invasion of privacy by the government. Conservatives would be up in arms, and even liberals would probably complain. Third, there are a lot of people who carry their babies to term and who still don't have the ability to care for their children properly. Fourth, not everyone looks at abortion as an option, even those who believe abortion should be illegal.

I think you're either trolling, or setting up a huge straw man argument.

It shouldn't be up to the government or any other type of agency to decide wheter or not I am suitable to raise a child. If you can't take care of a child, don't make one. Or give it up for adoption. There is absolutely no reason to kill a baby.

I know, "What if the mother was going to die?" That is up to God.

there should be limits too.

how would you feel if some drunk made you pregnant when you weren't ready then the father would have to be that drunk. if abortion was made illegal, that child should be in a foster home or be adopted.
