I wouldn't even take the first step. It doesn't matter what THEY want, it is what is good for Britain that matters. We elect our politicians to look after OUR interests in protecting OUR Nation State. Immigration should be strictly controlled, as it used to be, conducted in OUR interests, and be on a small scale, particularly from any one group or belief system.

Let us be clear, we are not responsible for the failures of other nations, economic or social, and we are not responsible for their laws or punishment regimes. We used to handle these things responsibly in this country until this appalling Government signed up to the equally appalling Human Rights Act.

I agree with your attitude to criminal immigrants, and no quarter given. But should they be here in the first place? The usual arguments that are made only suggests to me that our educational and job training has been woefully lacking for years. Still we have a left wing unpatriotic PC Government that doesn't care about Britain as an independent nation state, caring only about spreading its dangerous ideology as far and wide as possible.

It has been happening for a long time, if the person activities conflict with the states interests then they can be deported, so nothing new there.

The human rights are out of the window because public interest always allows derogations, please read the uk and strasbourg cases where the person is fighting the state against the states interest, they usually lose!

The British people should rise up and demand that immigrants integrate into YOUR society, not vice versa. Any immigrant who commits any crime should be deported immediately.

Our U.S. government is finally getting that part of the immigration issue, but to get around citizens' demands to stop illegal immigration, they are making tens of thousands of new citizens here, tens of thousands of new citizens there, with little or no background checks(!)...for money...for cheap labor.

Nip your immigration problems in the bud or, believe me, they will get much larger. Don't listen to cries of racism if you're not a racist. Don't let them take over your country. Don't let them throw your history, what some of your ancestors may have done, in your face...that wasn't you. If it's an illegal immigrant or an asylum seeker, the country of origin is unknown as they rip up their passports and will not say which country they came from. Some rip up their passports on the plane as they are landing. we should set up a system of checking passports when getting off the plane, anyone who can't show one should be held on the plane and returned on its next flight. the person obviously had a passport to get on the plane in the first place.

Yes, NO question about it. But, did you see the latest? The government is encouraging them to be here, and stay here. They want banks, {like Bank Of America has been doing}, to give them credit cards, without the need for a social security number. 33% of the prison population in the U.S. is illegal immigrants. When here illegally, they should have NO rights. They are paid for by the taxpayers. We are paying for their health care, dental care, housing, food and the like. The laws need to be changed, not limited to illegals coming here and dropping their offspring so the said offspring can be immediate citizens, and from that point on, we are totally paying for them, and the rest that follow. It would be so simple to put a stop to this, but because of this government we have, nothing gets done. In the next elections, take a look at Tom Tancredo. He is AGAINST illegals, and wants them all returned back to where they came from. I am a dem., but will vote for him because of this. Look at the gangs these other countries produce, then shoot them our way. We pay for them not only with our money, but in many cases with our lives.

Yes, I welcome anyone who needs to come here, I would do just the same if I could improve life for my family.

However, I believe "When in Rome" - we are far to tolerant towards the criminal groups as it is. Hence the prisons are overflowing. Other countries will kick you out without a second thought.

Of course it depends on the seriousness of the crime, and I am not sure of ZERO tolerance, we can all be stupid at some time or other.

For minor offences, for all - I would seriously suggest community work, cleaning up the trash from the sides of the road, making safe and pleasant playgrounds and park lands.
Helping within the community - putting some time in may help them realise that there is other people that matter.

Anything above that - forget the political correctness - this is OUR country, well whats left of it. Where is our National pride???

There are several points here, too many people are making a handsome living out of the migrants and human rights get in the way. They are allowed to stay because they create a breakdown in the social structure this in turn allows the government to bring in draconian measures that enslave the whole population. We then lose our freedom of speech and movement, we become zombies who do as we are told without question. That's what the anti-smoking bill is for, to test how far they have us under control.

I think some countries are too flexible regarding the immigration process. But I do know that usually, as I have immigrated to the UK for the reason of marriage, on my application form, I had to answer tons of criminal questions. They do complete a background check and usually do not let in people or give them a visa if they have been criminals from where they come from. The US for example has a problem with immigrants coming in regardless and staying in the country forever. I do have an appreciation for anyone who leaves their homeland to come and make a better life for themselves, but moving and then treating their new country badly is completely wrong. What is the solution? Who knows!? The thing to remember is that that there are already criminals living here as it is, and I think it's wrong to point fingers at immigrants specifically. I agree with what you're saying, and sometimes I sit back and think that in 100 years, there will be no such thing as cultural identity, and natural citizens will be living elsewhere. It's sad, but the world is a small place, and we just need to accept it.

i believe they should be but unfortunately EU rules make it extremely difficult...i think more importantly is that we should ensure that incoming people should not be allowed in if they have a criminal record
