In 2007, whites in Arizona will be a LEGAL minority. At that time will Affirmative Action work for them?

In all honesty, I don't think Affirmative Action is working for any whites anywhere in the world.Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that blacks and other oppressed races have been given equality and all that, but I feel that whites are slowly being side-lined and being forgotten about. I, myself am black and feel it is unfair for our governments to kick whites off their position's and put black, inexperienced people, who have not been given the proper education to handle such responsibilities,in their place. Many of us blacks are prospering out there, but not all of us are making it out of hard work and sweat, we are just being given free hand outs. A democratic state is a state that takes care of all its peoples needs, all races, not to focus on one race. That is being bias.

Regardless of race, creed, or religious belief, we should earn and grade our life's achievements based on their merit, as opposed to expecting handouts based on our statistical representation within the government. Affirmative action was not, nor will ever be good, as it only heightens racial tension.

Sadly, The Affirmative Action movement has been taken advantage of. What started out as a way to give the underdog more opportunity has been eated up by politicians, bureaucrats and John Q. Businessman, and ballooned into a policy that prevents people of all race and gender from having to "be the best to win the prize."

Personally, as a White Woman, (had to throw that in -- saw someone's response that no woman objected to Affirmative Action--- wrong... wrong... wrong....) I think that Affirmative Action should be COMPLETELY eliminated. It served it's purpose when it was needed back in the 60's-70's to help members of society find their lost civil liberties, but that era is gone.
People instead need to HEAR the words that Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his life for... That every man, woman and child be judged solely on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin or the idol at their alter. Only when we accept each others differences can we ever be equal.

It should, although I'm sure it won't be an issue. Affirmative Action is a b.s. law made to make minorities feel better. It pollutes our work environment with under-qualified workers. By the time the country is overpopulated by Mexicans, Affirmative Action probably won't be around anymore.

Anyway, back to affirmative action.....never worked, never will. Best thing we could do is box up all the illegals in container trucks, drive over the border and leave them there.

Skunked put it correctly. Everyone else automatically thought about blacks and Hispanics getting jobs and positions. But remember that women are covered by these same laws that until they existed women couldn't even dream of joining politics or being CEO's of companies. These are not just black and Hispanic women we're talking about. Like Skunk said, because of these laws the minority groups were given a ledge to stand on and compete where as before they would simply be ignored due to ignorant judgment regardless if they were the best candidate for the job or not. A white person would ask such a question and the answer, I think should be yes. If you become the minority you will need someone looking out for your interests too or you will simply be pushed out of the running like we were back in the day

In the 2005 population estimte, Arizona was 76.2 percent white. How did that number, if it did, change so drastically? Back to the answer im going to guess no on AA, but I think is loading you full crap on that stat.

Unfortunately, you are right. The only answer I can come up with, is, my people should have killed all the whites that tried to come over here. But did they? NO! That was their 1st mistake. Trust ? I think not, they brought over measles, mumps, and God knows what else that killed alot of my people.
