Make it legal just under Govt supervision just like other legal drug such as Alcohol and tobacco. Let the people decide weather they want to do it or not. I don't think people should have to risk going to jail or pay fine for something that is naturally grown and has not been tested enough to prove it causes any harm to anyone except the person using it.

Just make it legal and maybe the hype of it will die down.

the only reasons why pot still isnt legal...is that it would be difficult to regulate...and the government doesnt want its people ''thinking'' about its stupid alcohol induced society...there might be a revolution if we did!

actually yes...my boyfriend from long ago did get in a very serious accident while stoned on pot. anyways I do agree that in almost every way alcohol is worse than pot, but I have also seen the effects that pot can have on certain people, like my own father who has been addicted to pot for over 35 yrs. It has taken a huge toll on his memory, motivation, will for life, and makes him extremely depressed when he doesnt have it, debt because of excessive use, ect. so I have mixed feelings about it.

I'm all for legalizing pot, as long as it is for medicinal use only. Imagine the amount of high schoolers coming to school high every day if legalization happens. It should be done in a controlled environment. If we ever do legalize it, just like alcohol, there should be a legal age to use it. Some patients stated that marijuana provides relief for their ailments when no other prescription has any effect. It is their treatment that they desire, who are we to say what type of treatment that they can have. It's like lawmakers telling patients that they should use the big name drugs instead of the generic ones.
It will be hard for legalization to happen because alcohol and tobacco have one thing that marijuana doesn't have: lobbyists. But as they say, "Anything is possible."

I think marjiuana has it's advantages and disadvantages...but if you're comparing it to alchohal...there is no reason why it shouldnt be legal.

You'll never get into an argument when high. As opposed to drunk bar fights.

It's easier to drive high, where as driving drunk is disastrious.

Getting high may make you a little goofy, but it DOES not cause vision imparement, lack of good judgement, or any other idiotic things you do when you're drunk.

Marijuana is also excellent for medicinal purposes. Personally it helps to cope with my menstrual cramps that so far, I've found nothing else to take them away. It also helps if I feel nauseous.

I honestly don't see the problem with it, and think it should be just as legal as alchohal. Do i think there should be some law's governing it, sure. But should it be illegal, definatly not.

I think all drugs should be legalized and taxed. Criminalization does not lessen the use - it just increases the crime.

I agree.. alchohol kills you and other people on the road.. I got a friend with a medical card and if he didn't he probally would be dead.. but do you ever hear of anyone being helped by alcohol.. I think pot should be legale and alcoholshould be banned/or harder to get

Ok I have to give my two cents. I have smoked pot off and on for the last 10 years. The down side: It does impair your thought process (make you feel stupid), it does make you forget some things, and it can be phsychologically dependent, it may be harmful if you use during pregnancy (I didn't with my first AT ALL, used for the first three months during son to curb severe vomiting and migraine headache) I know people who have used their whole pregnancies and their kids seem like they have ADD, but this hasn't been tested. The upside: you can quite it for months and years at a time without withdrawals, you can still function and sometimes your thought process widens when you smoke because you think of things you wouldn't normally, it doesn't impair your driving the same way alcohol does, more like you were just a sleepy driver (which isn't good), it's not a gate way drug unless you make it one, (I have NEVER used any other drug except pot and alcohol and know a lot of people that are the same), you can function on a job if you don't smoke and you don't have to because it's not addictive.

The facts about Pot and the US: Pot is considered a narcotic, but it isn't. I had my tonsils out 2 weeks ago, (had to stop smoking for 4 weeks no problem) the pain meds they put me on were oxycodone, hydrocodone and the last few days at my request tyelonol w/codiene, the doctors wanted to continue hydrocodone. The three days after I quite those prescribed meds, I had withdrawal shakes, insomnia and a really bad migraine. I have quite smoking pot many times two pregnancies, job requirements, personal choice and have done so without cravings. If pot was a narcotic, you would react the same way as the other pain meds .

The government does not want to pay for research on pot because all of the myths they have created surrounding pot have been debunked. I was in a study at one of the local universities and they told me about this.

There is a stigma surrounding pot that needs to be dropped. It is not the issue that many people make it. There are a lot of people that say if pot was legalized it would make more kids smoke it, I don't see the justification in that stance. If pot was legalized, it would be controlled and limited to how it could be sold same as cigarettes and alcohol. I know a lot of pot smokers who are upstanding citizens, productive members of society, hold good jobs and have families. Yet every time they smoke, they chance someone turning them in and getting a felony offense because pot is considered a narcotic. I bet you would be surprised at how many people who you think are in that last category use pot. Most pot smokers are responsible with how they do it, there are some bad apples out there but there are bad apples in every category.

In that movie/Documentary:There were so many possitives for Legalization.I liked the statement made"People remember prohibition~but have no choice ~when it comes to marijaunia~People don,t remember it cuz it,s never been offered legitamentally!And "There are perfectly legitament uses for drugs made from Opium and cocaine and yes even alcohol and believe it or not Marijaunia Yes There Are 32 cannibinoids that could be useful also".If a Scientist found canibbus in the Amazon and called it by another Name It would most likely be harvasted and exploited to the fullest"And they would get by with it~And Goverments would be stumbling to get their hands on it.but those in public are not aware of this conception.No that doesn,t mean make it all available to youngsters but you Don,t Deprive The iLL~ So I Guess that makes Me a supporter..

I have heard of people getting into accidents just as a result of being high. I don't think that alcohol being legal should be any justification to legalize more intoxicating drugs. Perhaps we should look at why alcohol is legal? It seems that if marijuana use was decriminalized, usage would increase dramatically and I don't think that would be a positive result.

Well, the two drugs are different in that you can control alcohol consumption, just have a little and be fine. One drag of pot and you're high.
