Neither. But it makes economic sense for us to figure out how to provide basic health care for our citizens. Exorbitant health care costs divert too much moola away from places where we could better use the money. |

It depends.
By 'health care', do you mean access to basic services and emergency care, affordable medicine and a proper education on health issues? If so, then it's a right.
I think that funding health care is in the best interest of society. We are less likely to be vulnerable to things like the current outbreak of swine flu if society, as a whole, is healthy and has access to basic medical needs.
And by 'access to basic medical needs', I mean for *everyone*. If the government is going to use taxpayer money to fund health-care, then *everyone* should benefit. If that is not the case, then health care, funded by the government, ceases to be a right and becomes a privilege. |
