Call an ambulance chaser. Really. They specialize in being mean and legally vicious. It's how they get paid. Not just any lawyer...a real sleezy ambulance chaser. |

The city you live in probably has a "tenants assistance" department. Look it up in the government section of your phone book. Contact them and explain the situation....they will go after the landlord for you.
Remember to diarize everything for future reference.
Good luck. |

Keep a record everytime you call, every bit of information you have will help in court. Witnesses, not only to the accident but phone calls. Contact a lawyer. Get a consultation and see what your options are. |

If you went to the hospital, send him the bill. If your landlord does not respond, contact a lawyer. Or, maybe you can work out a deal for a couple of months free rent. |

Your landlords insurance should cover your injury. That is what insurance was designed to do--so that you could avoid lawsuits. If your landlord is not responsive, then an attorney would be your best advocate. Good luck to you. |

ask around who's the best lawyer who will take on cases like that, had one in my town, if he thought you had a good case, he would sue their a** off, he's always on vacation now with all the money he makes. So ask around, & see who the evil lawyers are near you. |

What's missing from all the other answers is that you have to have proof that the injury was the cause of the landlord's neglect.
If you simply get hurt falling down the stairs because you were lookng back, it's too bad, because the fall was your fault.
If you fell because you tripped on a piece of tile coming loose at the head of the stairs, you may have a case.
If you got drunk and fell out of a window: Your fault.
If a door opened up to an outside wall, and there were no landing or stairs, there, it may be his fault. |
