No.
Edit: I don't know why this got so many thumbs downs. It's true, it isn't illegal. It's exactly the same as buying a CD at a store and then giving it to someone as a gift. You BOUGHT the music on iTunes, which is perfectly legal, and you gave THAT cd to a friend. It's not like you copied the CD and then gave it to her. What you did is PERFECTLY legal. |

Boycie

Technically: yes, it is. stupid law, i know. Don't sweat it though if you arent making money they arent even looking to get you in trouble. Millions of people have done much worse including me ;) some people are working on trying to ease up the laws on consumer while still giving artists their fair pay. but as a general rule dont sell stuff to strangers and you'll be fine. |

You don't have a right to copy others work. So yes, it is. If you tell a policeman, however, it's likely he'll tell you to go away. |

It is illegal. You buying the songs from itunes is for your personnal use, not for sharing. No one is going to come after you for it though. |

it's illegal but everyone does it
don't worry, cigarettes kill and they're still legal ...so burning a couple of songs wont land you in jail |

You are in violation of United States and international copyright laws. You WILL be convicted and sentenced to 5 years in a federal penitentiary a fined $250,000 for each song you distribute. |

vampwithaheart
Strictly speaking yes as when you buy a tune (or a cd) you're buying the license to play it, you're only supposed to burn music for personal use... but everyone does it... and if everyone got arrested and jailed noone would be left to buy the tunes in the first place! |

finglas9
if you bought or copied a recipe to make a cake from the internet then cooked and gave to a friend to eat with the recipe would that be illegal, i dont think so. same thing. |

naota h
zomg you gone get arestted
just kidding. its probably illegal in the same way eating one grape in the supermarket is, or jaywalking; no one is EVER going to prosecute you, there are way worse copyright infringers to aprehend. |

Iron Kidneys
Yeah, it's illegal and you belong in jail, you scumbag. |

robert c
No! |

Elmo
Technically yes it is. If you give it to your friend she then won't purchase the songs which takes a customer away from the artists. |

frankturk50
Yes its breach of copyright though it is rarely enforced in such a case it is really to stop people making numerous copies and distributing them. |

Jas
Making music CDs without a license is illegal |

Danny M
Illegal? Yes. Going to get caught or prosecuted? No. |

pradeep_llb_shenoy
Obviously yes. because you have purchsed only the "songs", not the rights to copy them. your rights are limited to listen to those songs. you can see a note on every music album or any copyrighted material "copyright reserved" or "C&P....." as per copyright law, u can be punished, but practically neither it is possible to detect ur offence nor to prove it in a court. |
