law.. That daft Cameron geezer who thinks hugging a hoodie or loving a lout is the answer is well and truly wrong he wants his bumps feeling.. I tried to be reasonable with a woman on my street who treats it as though she owns the whole place and all I got was threatened with violance or told to ring the police go on get me arrested they wont do anything.. Is anyone else really fed up with this behaviour from so called responsible parents

Me. We have a major parenting problem in society today. |

I'm a new parent, and the sort of behavior you're describing makes me sick! Parents definitely need to quit sticking up for their kids when their kids are behaving badly. If my son acts like a spoiled little brat when he gets older, there's no way I'm sticking up for him. He's gonna get a swat on his behind. |

yes i am . i think a draft would do good thing for this country young peoples .first you have so many who have drop out of school selling drugs on the streets it's just ridicules and most want hold a dam job all either want to be a rapper or a thug a draft would give them responsible discipline and credibility |

This annoys the crap out of me! It seems like so many parents are uneducated to the idea that it is their responsibility to raise their own children. That lack of education is being passed down to a pansy-a*s generation that is getting used to not knowing what it feels like to be a loser, not picked for a sport, always passing classes, and always having their rights taken into consideration when they are a culprit.
It scares me to death that these children are going to be the leaders of our country some day. God help us! |

One of the best questions for a while... (apart from the funny ones)... I totally agree, when i was younger i got a clip around the ear if i done something wrong and if a policeman told me off.... i would crap myself as i had respect for them. This country id turning into a nandy pandy place to live as everyone has to be pc.... instead they should gice harder punishments out to stop people doing things in the first place.... thats it, rant over lol |

As a mother of a very well behaved, responsible, reliable, respectful 11 year old boy....YES!! Very sick of it!! These parents are too lazy to teach their kids right from wrong, It's just so much easier to give them what they want without a fight and then when they get older they expect everything handed to them. And not to mention the parents that have been so spoiled themselves that they don't even notice the harm they are doing to their kids.
Someone answered you saying that mothers especially will do anything to keep their kid out of trouble. That's a load of bull. If my son did something that was a punishable offense then I would make sure that he was not only punished by the school or the law I would punish him myself. I believe that you do no good to a child by not teaching them consequences for their actions. Like those kids a couple months back who thought it would be great fun to put a decoy deer in the middle of the road during the night to watch cars as they swerve around it. Well, some other kids swerved around it, went off the road and were seriously injured. These kids that played the prank had their sentence held off because they were star players on the school football team.

I have to disagree with PhD right under me. I live on Long Island, an affluent area of the country, and we are bombarded with spoiled brats, unruley, undisciplined and ill mannered children with parents that make every excuse in the book why they are the way they are. ADD/ADHD, chemical imbalance, bi-polar, bad teaching, etc etc etc. I would think that the kids that have to earn their keep, like in a lower income household would have more of a chance of growing into a responsible adult (though I am quite aware that this isn't 100%, nor it is 100% that children of richer areas are going to wind up being spoiled either). I think that perhaps Blair is sending these 80 odd psychologist to the poorer areas because he's too scared to insult the people that are paying him big bucks by calling them bad parents, and laying the blame on those who can't afford the counceling. |

Totally. Residents of areas need to get together and tackle it somehow. The Police are too busy and don't have time which is ridiculous. |

Corporal punishment is the answer. Not savage beating, but sufficient to keep kids in line at school and at home. That was how I grew up, and there was no graffitti, and very little vandalism in those days. Kids didn't answer back to adults, respected the police, and knew the limits they could reach without punishment.
Today's kids don't have to worry about punishment because they can sue anyone that tries to reprimand them, and their doting parents defend them even when they KNOW they were in the wrong, rather than punish them. Parents are supposed to parent, not be the friend to these kids. |

Its scary to think they will be driving the streets don't you think? A generation of screaming monkeys who had the great rep of their wonderful (RUDE) parents at sports events etc all these years. And deaf too- like the ones who could shake my windows and pound bass through my home at 2 blocks away! We have a good neighborhood and school system here but 2 parents duked it out on the grass of the Middle School because the old boyfriend visited the girlfriend (he was High School)while the new guy was in sight---why are the parents fighting? There are many good, polite, educated kids- they are just quieter- like mine and their friends. Thank God I raised them to be good adults (12,19 yrs) and MY grandkids will be happy, secure, self responsible adults too! (Or they are not coming to Grammie's!) ;0)---I'm with you on this one!!!!! |

I am and i have 3 kids that i just hope don't turn out that way, only time will tell but i hope i am instilling enough good values now that they will use when they are older |

Its no wonder that kids are like this nowadays, they learn it from their parents. People like that should not be allowed to have children, they are barely capable of acting like human beings themselves let alone bringing up new ones. |

Don't worry. Tony Blair is sending an army of psychologists to help those poor dear parents. Your street will soon be clear of all anti social behaviour. Unruly children are going to be a thing of the past. Isn't Tony wonderful? |

there are all sorts of people in the world and some of them are rather stupid as this woman seems to be. I dont think it is getting any worse or better it is just something we have to live with and so did our parents and so will our children |

You say it because you don't have any children I suppose, most parents, specially the mother, will do anything to keep their childrem away from harm, lie, decieve, violate the law, it's something natural, I'm not saying that's right, but that's the way it is, there's nothing like the love of our parents, it's above the law, above society. |

I live next door to my two nephews who are violent out of control scary kids (age 17 and 19) These kids have been rewarded for bad behavior their whole lives. Just an example, the older one then 15 was kicked out of every form of school there is can't even step on school property- his mom gave him a car so he could get around. NOT KIDDING! These kids have no respect for anything or anyone, they very violent with a room full of guns to play with, which they shoot constantly (we live in the sticks). How sad their moms new love life and her new BMW were more important. We are selling our home of 25 yrs and a peice of property thats been in the family for 76 yrs to get away from these kids because their parents won't take care of the problem. Thanks for listening. |
