Look how the kids today act, they have no respect for anyone or anything, maybe a good woopin would keep their mouths shut & ears open. It worked for me, I knew if I got caught doing something I wasn't suppose to do there were consequences. Now thanks to "Dr. Spock" your a bad parent if you act like the parent.

Causing someone else's death is never ethical or moral - especially if you claim to be Christian - and it should be illegal.
A person who is deserving of such punishment will suffer a lot more being incarcerated for natural life - even if society has to foot the bill.

Most Western Europeans think not.
I'd tend to agree.
It tends to be a more enlightened part of the world when it comes to civil liberties.

If corporal punishment wouldn't have been watered down, then abolished, kids would grow up to be respectful, and moral like in the old days, when crime was rare.Yoiu can see in today's world what a lack of discipline and morals can do.

It depends on what you are asking
corporal punishment (spanking) for children under 18 for small offenses in school by non-parents NO
child abuse by parents NO

or are you talking about Capital Punishment
Death penalty - IMO YES

No one has the right to kill another human being, unless it's war and of course everyone kills everybody.

No justice system is 100% perfect. There are many instances where people who were convicted were innocent. Only to find out decades later because of new technologies.

Some great one once said "100 guilty people can be freed, but one innocent person should not be in prison".

oddly enough this is another repub/ dem divide.... repubs as a group believe in beating children they think it teaches them to be good little conformists from a young age......
a liberal is educated enough to have read the newest research on "hitting" children........ and it is easy enough to see that parents who spank do it because they secretly like the power..... with negative behavioral consequences......in the children that they ignore......

did you mean capital punishment..? executions? hell no that makes us as bad as them...........

Oh boy, i've heard so many horror stories from teachers and principles and STUDENTS about how bad school have been since a teacher is not any longer allowed to physically discipline students. Teachers have been attacked and can pretty much do nothing about it now. Someone even told me that before the whole ban while she was disciplining a student he actually had the nerve to say 'that's okay, you wont be able to touch me next year!' I was like wow! You've taken away the only thing teachers had to keep bad kids in line. Now all you can do is maybe, send a kid off to detention or suspend them, and most of the kids that are causing the trouble dont really want to be in school anyway!
So now you have teachers being attacked by students and other students having to learn in chaos...this was a bad move on parents' part.

P.S. please figure out what corporal punishment is before you answer! Sheesh!!

Corporal punishment, yes, in schools where the teacher is "in parentis locus" I had the "tawse" in school in Scotland and deserved it, it taught me a lesson, don't do it again and I didn't, I am probably better for it, so yes ethical and legal.

It is unethical and illegal. "Cruel and unusual" punishment is unconstitutional.

As it is illegal for adults to commit assault on each other, (jailable offense), it is not ethical to inflict corporal punishment on children.
