Lethal injection is neither cruel OR unusual. They stick a needle in your arm and you go to sleep. The criminal dies in a much more peaceful manner than their victim did. |

People should be punished for their crimes.
There are no innocent people in prison (yeah right), hence no innocent people have ever been given the death sentence (yeah right again).
I would not go so far as to say the lethal injection is cruel. or unusual, but it is final.
Guess that screws up your chances of a successful appeal though.
(on the other hand, when the person is truly guilty it may give the family of the victim some closure, but I doubt that is true). |

No. Lethal injection is not cruel or unusual, particularly since it is used so sparingly. The state does not commit murder since the individual who is being killed is losing his/her life as a consequence for committing a horrible crime. The act is neither arbitrary nor capricious. They have had a chance to appeal, the appeals have failed, now they have their sentence imposed.
Maybe they should have considered the consequence before committing the crime. |

they inject that when they know a person hasn't got long to live anyway.its to stop them suffering i guess. but wen a person murders someone there taking there whole life away..
its not punishment. they see it as the best for them.
like my mum she was ill for a very long time and in feb just gone she was admitted to hospital but those few days she was there she was adiment she was not giving up,but it got to much for her and couldn't take the pain anymore so she asked the doctors for the morphine after giving that injection she lasted for a further 2 days. then she passed on 17th feb..
at the time i thought the injection was a bad idea but lookin bak on it now.its better to know she didnt have to suffer anymore... |

Anyone that gets the death sentence has done something really bad. I think lethal injection is to good for some of them.L/I is a much easier death then their victims were given I'm sure.Cruel and unusual punishment? You have got to be kidding. Should they be kept in a prison for the rest of their life so they can enjoy cable TV. a workout gym,laying around most of the day and being taken care of by the state?I don't think so. They should be put to death right away and stop wasting the states money. If they get back out( which most of them do) many just go back and commit their crimes again.Think of hanging or the electric chair. These are much worse. Even then, they deserve to be put down. Just like any other animal that has gone mad and killed someone. |

I think being chopped up into pieces in an industrial shredder with your family watching (like Saddam use to do to people) is cruel and unusual. Or any of the crazy things the Brits use to do, like drawing and quartering.
Being put to sleep doesn't seem too cruel, I've had several needles in the past few years, and they hardly hurt at all. As for being unusual, it seems to be the favored and most common (usual) form of capital punishment so not unusual at all. |

The standard needs to change from reasonable doubt at the trial to guilty to an absolute certainty......then the death penalty should be sought at that point....
If the crime is so heinous, cruel and the perp(aka Skell) is guilty
why can't the US Constitution be used as a shield for the victims..........when this person enters jail, is he likely to change for the better?probably not .....so other people in jail are at risk of death at his hands.....throw the switch and move on.... |

No, it is not cruel. What about the victims that were murdered? It is less painful. I think when a murderer is convicted. They should take him to the room and get it over with. We pay for these criminals to sit in jail. |
