Yea the crime is a minor attempting to purchase alcohol illegally, taking it makes you in pocession of alcohol illegally. Now it's two crimes. |

FishStory
It's not a crime to put down money, but it is a crime to walk away with a bottle of alcohol, if you are underage. |

jenny_penny_06
duh. yes thats illegal. underage people cannot purchase alcohol in any way. |

★ Jenny ★
well yeah, cos you'd be underage and it would be illegal and practically stealing. Thats what the laws are there for... |

Trollbuster
Yep. |

Sarah <3
yes its a crime because you are underage. |

Citicop
Yes. You would be in Possession of Alcohol as a Minor. The fact that you "paid for it" (against the will of the store, which can lose its liquor license for "selling" to you) makes no difference. |

ItsJustMe
Yes because if you do that, you just purchased the alcohol, which is illegal if you are underage. |

AC
yea i guess it still is |

BOSS LIGHTNING
Yes actually its two crimes because you haven't bought the item until you get a recite. |

blahblahblahblahblah
Um yeah it's illegal, duh. You will be charged with buying alcohol when you are underage. |

Mindy
YES! If you leave without making the transaction its stealing, if the clerk allows you to leave and accepts the money, that selling alcohol to minors and both are illegal. |

shiggity777
umm yeah thats considered stealing and no thats not the way to do it while underage, still illegal.
hope you waved to the camera as you walked out |

thinkin' out loud
You got the liquor. That's illegal. |

Bean
You have to pay for the item and have the cashier take the money before you walk out of the store otherwise it is not an actual purchase because they haven't rang it up yet. |

Phil M
Yes, for two reasons.
A) you are underage and purchasing/possessing/ingesting alcohol is illegal, except for some states where your parents can order for you after the age of 18.
B) without a bill of sale or proof of purchase you are stealing. The clerk isn't going to just let it roll, especially if police are there. |

lawrenceba549
As long as the cashier doesn't ring up the sale or move the money from the counter, you are guilty of theft.
If the cashier even so much as moves the money off the counter, the cashier can be charged for underage sale. |

.BRE3zY
yeah thats stealing, and your drinking alcahoul. plus they wouldnt know what you took. only that theres 20$ on the counter |

Snack It Up Healthy Style
Yes, it's a crime. |

where is everybody?
yes it is, you can go to jail. |

malter
Potentially two crimes....one you are a minor in possession. Two...if the store clerk lets you out of the store with the product then they can be charge with selling to a minor. |

bleachfan54
yea your not even aloud to carry alcohol if you under age |

Nini
It is still underage consumption! Do not do it! If you do not have permition from the sale person to buy then it is theft! If they see you do it and do nothing about it then they can get in trouble for letting you do it! Do not do it!!! |

Black_19
Purchasing or possesing alcohol as a minor is illegal. |

Lindsey
Come one you have to know the question to this already. First you are a minor and you can not drink or buy alcohol. Second it is kind of like stealing. |

Terry
It is illegal. A purchase is a contract, involving the ACCEPTANCE of money in exchange for goods. You can't just put $2000 through someone's mailbox and take their car - they have a choice whether to accept the offer. The same rule applies in a store. It doesn't matter what the product is. |

Alex
it is illegal to even attempt to buy alcohol underage... your case also constitutes theft and minor in possesion of alcohol |

mwilli
Um yes....
its stealing.
The person selling the prosuct needs to handle the money themselves and see you .
PLUS YOU ArE UNDERAGED
thats a whole crime by itself.
i wouldn want to be charged with underaged drinking and theft....
that just won't go over well buddy |

Yes. My friend did this a few years ago and was arrested. |

Minor In Possession.
- and tipping the clerk or forgetting your change doesn't get you out of a crime. |

R.S.
yes it would be cause this person would not even be old enough to buy alchol in the first place and shouldn't even be at the bar |
