I live in some apartments and we are not supposed to have animals but I have a little weenier dog. They said they can give surprise inspections. But does that give them the right to just walk in? Please help me figure this out, I cant give him away.

Your lease agreement will usually have the terms of under which they can enter. In general they can't enter at will. But state laws vary. |

They only have to give you 24 hours notice...and I doubt that's enough time for you to hide your dog. You're knowingly in violation of your lease agreement though...and can be evicted. |

Technically, the answer is no -- a Landlord cannot just walk into your apartment without notice. However, if you signed a lease or agreement waiving that right and granting them permission to do so as a part of the contractual agreement; yes, they can.
It depends on the contract / lease / rental agreement you signed. |

Read your lease, it should specify the conditions in which they may enter the apartment.
Every lease I've ever signed says that they will give 24 hours advanced notice of their arrival and if you aren't home when they get there, they'll let themselves in... |
