Is it illegal to buy a pirated dvd or just sell them?

I am making no profit off of the movie.. so is it legal?

In Britain it is only illegal to sell them, not sure about the US.

In the U.S. it is illegal to simply VIEW them. Doesn't even matter if you own it yourself, if they can show you are watching it. They mostly go by possession as it's a lot harder to prove you watched something you don't have.

In Canada, both. Pretty sure it's the same deal in the States.
