It is illegal, however I think that as long as you're not directly harming anyone or infringing on their rights, you should be able to "die" if you want to. |

It is if you do it for fraudulent reasons. Frankly, it would be hard to come up with some reason that was not fraudulent in some way - so the usual answer would be yes. |

Faking your death isn't a crime, by itself. Also, whether the faked-death were a "forever" fake, or a "momentary" fake would have a LOT to do with any possible liability.
Faking a death to bilk insurers, avoid taxes, collect survivor benies, avoid being held to contract terms, or escape justice however, is another story.
A legit reason for faking a death could be to extract information from a criminal who might not reveal it if someone were believed alive. Once the confession is made, a resurrection could occur. |

Not if you sole desire is to just vanish so that you can not be found by family or friends. (An they may assume that you are dead).
If you fake your death for financial gain as opposed to the above it is a crime.
If you have life insurance and the beneficiary is paid off and their investigators find out that you are still alive it is a crime.
If you have access to death certficates and fill one out for sure it is a crime as you are still alive.
Only a Lic. medical doctor can fill out a death certificate.

If you do it for the purpose of making money, yes. There would be very few good reasons to do such a thing. The only possible acceptable reason would be if you had a murderous stalker after you. I hope that's not the case! Good luck! |
