You have no duty to be a snitch unless you are directly questioned by the authorities about it. Even then, you can still say nothing and wait for a court-ordered subpoena to testify.
...even for murder cases, if it already happened, and you were not involved in any way. You have no duty to report, although morally you might.
If you are questioned, however, and instead of saying nothing, you lie, then you can be charged with obstruction of justice. |

If it doesn't directly effect your life or safety - butt out! |

I don't think it's illegal. You would get in trouble if you were with her WHILE she was doing the drugs and she got caught. But not if you knew about her doing the drugs. Just stay away from her when she's doing them. |

Ooooo, be careful with this one.
I wouldn't say anything. I know lots of people that do illegal stuff and i just think...unless it effects me, i'm not getting involved.
If you tell the police...it stays anonymous, so she will never find out who dobbed her in.
In the end, the police can't really do anything unless she deals drugs or has more than enough to go around. THEN she can get into trouble, but if she just takes them from time to time...the cops just don't have the time to investigate it.
I would just suggest you stay away from her, just to be safe. You dont' wanna get envoled with people like that anyway.
Good luck :) |

Why would anyone just sit by and let a friend kill themselves and do nothing to stop them--even if it meant the friend going to prision? |

How would you feel if your friend died from an overdose or was involved in some type of crime where some one was killed. Would you consider yourself as an accessory. You should spill the beans on your friend but do it with out giving your name. It is even possible you could get hurt from you friends illegal drug usage or try to get them to seek help. You could be arrested by accident as an accomplice. There was a question recently where some one was with a person who was arrested for shop lifting and was also arrested with them. You have a choice turn them in or help them seek help. As a last resort stop being their friend and put some distance between you and them. |

drugs arent really a "crime" .. the drug laws are.. drug laws are war on peoples rights to choose for themselves. Drug laws hurt society .. and the user .. far far far far more than drugs do.. so you have to use your morals.. and common sense here.. better to have a drug user not really costing you anything.. perhaps they work and pay taxes.. .. vs ratting them out.. and then having to shell out thousands in taxes for court costs.. then mabye 50,000 per year incarceration fees.. only to have them learn a criminal mindset.. and skills in prison.. so when they get out.. they contribute to crime and misery..
drug laws are a farce.. the drug war a war on our own people.. prohibition only funds criminals and corruption..
read about the prohibition of booze.. it's clear it was immoral.. wrong.. expensive .. a total human and financial disaster..
the crime here is the laws.. not the drug users..
just mind your own business.. if you fear for your friends life.. cus htey shooting up heroin.. (another thing about being illegal.. the quality and safety issues of drugs are unknown.. (dea would rather u od and die.. than use drugs safely).. anyway if you fear for their life.. tell one of their relatives.. but NEVER EVER TELL THE COPS.. the cops are the BAD guys in the war on drugs. |

Nope, it's only illegal to possess/consume the drug. It's not illegal to know of its use by someone |

Well it's not illegal but you should tell, tell the police what kind of drug, were, who, that kind of stuff, it will save your friends life if they're addicted, and if you don't want your friend to know tell the police, "don't tell her I told" even though it stays enonamus. just stay away from her for now!!! |

lol its not illigal, its kind of dishonest because you arent helping the situation by keeping quiet.
IF you did tell there is really no way they would find out. you can anonymously call it in and no one would ever know it was you
if your friend is threatening to kill her self then she has a problem and you SHOULD report her.....she needs the help obviously...that is what a good friend would do... |

Umm.. I'd just try to seek help from someone I trust to help my friend. I don't think telling would help unless of coarse they are seriously in some trouble with drug dealers or whatever. |

People shouldn't be putting their noses in other peoples business. Snitching them off is a messed up thing to do. The exception to this rule is if the person is under aged. Then the right thing to do would be for you to talk to the friend who is using the drugs. Tell them that it doesn't make them cool, or fit in. You can tell them with confidense that a person with many years experience, (thats me) has told you that drugs can and will have effects on their life, their whole world, the lives and worlds of their friends and families that are irreversable, and most will be negative. Be sure to be compassionate and tell them you are concerned and don't want to lose them as a friend. On the other hand, if they are of age, then its none of your business. Butt out! It's not illegal to know and not say anything. However, It can be dangerous to be a snitch. So better safe than sorry. Good luck. |

Perhaps if the drug possession amounts to a federal felony and you do something to help actively conceal it (lying to officers about it, helping hide or destroy evidence, etc), that would be a misprision of felony and you could go to prison for up to 3 years. 18 USC s. 4. |

Just mind your own business. We don't need you to contribute to this already developing Orwellian society we live in where everyone is reporting everyone else for every little thing. |
