It is perfectly legal to record a conversation that you are involved in and that recording will be admissible in court.
These people do not know what they are talking about when they are talking about consent and warrants.
You do NOT need the other party's consent. Because they are engaged in a conversation with you, they have exhibited a limited expectation of privacy. Unless you are bound by a confidentiality agreement which you have signed, you are not obligated to keep secret anything that occured in the conversation, so why not record it? This is how the courts see it. |

It depends on the state you live in or the state you are going to record in. These particular laws very from state to state so in order for you to determine you need to figure this out. |

Depending in what State or Province you live in. Check your phone book, it is somewhere in the front of the of the book. |

Check your local court on the rules for that. The rules vary from state to state.
Here in Utah you can record without the consent of the person you are recording. The requirement is that as long as ONE person knows that the conversation is recorded then the law is satisfied. That one person is, of course, the person with the recorder!
Cheers! |

Hello,
OMG I recorded my ex hubby then after told my attorney I did this. She through a fit told me to destroy it and it was against our laws here in Oregon. That was 8 years ago now something like that.
Now that the disabled people told me to get a voice recorder for the phone for my memory, they told me to tell them before saying anything that this phone call is being recorded. This is only for my memory, who knows in court now?
Call someone in your state and ask? |

In most cases without a warrant you have to tell the person in advance they are being recorded. |

you can sell your voice to for profit i assume. Your voice is your signiture , You have a right to own yourself, you are only for sail if you allow it to happen, your sorry is yours to sell......but if your sign a paper to be recorded or you may be threatened to sign, then its your desicion and your fear threshold , but ask a good lawyer first, get real answers...... |

I would consult a lawyer (someone who actually knows what they are talking about rather than the 14 year olds who hang out here).
In most states, it is not legal to record a phone converstation without the person's knowledge/concent. I think there is some kind of loophole when it comes to cell and cordless phones in that it is not illegal to record radio transmissions (though many states are closing this loophole). Having said all that, the penalty is relatively a minor slap on the wrists in many states. However, it is highly unlikely that your recording will be admissible in court. But only a lawyer could tell you for sure. |

In some states it's considered illegal wire tapping if you record a conversation you're part of.
In other states it's legal to record a conversation you're part of.
However, it's always considered illegal wiretapping to record someone without their knowledge. Unless she was leaving a message on your answering machine.
It depends whether you were part of the conversation and which state you're in!

If someone is threatening you or has set a precedent for bad behavior toward you, you are allowed to get proof of it.... Keep three copies. One with a friend, one you hide, and another. |

It is not illegal, unless it is on the phone. On the phone you have to notify them that you are recording. |

It depends on the state. In some states both parties must know it's being recorded, in other states only one person involved in the conversation must know to make a recording legal. |

It's not illegal, but I'm pretty sure you can't use it in court if you didn't tell the person she was being recorded. |

It's not illegal but you need to get the person's consent to it. I think there would be no penalty for it. If you tried to take it to court, though, it would not count as evidence because you didn't have the person's consent. |
