So as the the title says "Is it illegal to tell someone how much that person makes?" Like if i told lots of people how much my friend makes is that illegal?

Of course it is not illegal, unless you work for the same company and are required to keep certain kinds of information confidential. And if so, it is also unprofessional to discuss other employee's personnel contracts. Furthermore, it is not polite to reveal personal information about your friends without their permission. |

It is not illegal. It is unethical. If this person is your friend, why are you talking to others about his or her private business? I can imagine that you might be bragging on how successful your friend is, but still, it invites people to make comparisons. If they make more, they will laugh at your friend, and if they make less, they may resent him, or ask him for money. |
