Is it legal for a school administrator to search my phone and call my parents to compromise me?

A few weeks ago one of my friends was caught trying to buy drugs near our school campus and they looked through his phone and found one of my other friends had been texting him about those drugs. Then another friend of all of ours was caught on drugs near school and was taken in. They searched his phones and found he'd been texting the same kid about said drugs. Its not one week since the 2nd incident and 3 weeks since the 1st. This week me and about 9 of my friends were pulled out of class and they searched all our phones just because one of our friends was texting the other about drugs. They learned that all of us smoke weed and they called all our parents and told them. Is it legal for them to do this? They searched some of our phones simply because our names were on the contacts list of our friends who were caught on and buying said drugs. And is it legal for them to compromise us to our parents? We weren't caught with or on anything near or on school grounds (that is those of us who were pulled from class) but they called all our parents anyways.

Yes it is. It's even legal for them to search your phone and then call the cops.

You don;t like having your phone searched? The Supreme Court is currently considering arguments in a case where a 15 year old girl was strip-searched, even to the point of looking inside her bra and panties, because another student told a teacher that the girl had brought Ibuprofen to school.

From the questions asked, the Court seemed to be leaning hard toward ruling the search to have been legal.

yes it is very legal. Teachers don't have to have a warrant to check search your things just like your parents don't neeed a warrant. Teachers are like in the place of your parents at school. In school students don't have many rights.

Yes, it is. You were caught performing an illegal act. They have the right to search for evidence of this act. It is called "Probable cause". Since you are a minor, the police are required to report you contact with police to your parents.

Or, you could sit in jail until someone realized you were missing and came to look for you.
