Yes, it is legal in the United Kingdom. However they are trying to make it illegal. Ann Cryer, the Labour MP for Keighley was calling for the end to the practice of cousin marriages a while ago. I think that the law should have been changed a long time ago. Morality part of the act aside, children from first cousin marriages are a lot like to have disabilities and health disorders.

It is perfectly legal to marry one's first cousin in the UK and has been so for a long time. In fact the Hanoverian dynasty is an example of this practice -- they kept marrying their first cousins. There may be a prohibition against it in the Roman Catholic Church, as other European countries where the Roman Catholic Church was dominant would not allow it and nationals from that country occasionally came to the UK to marry, which created conflict of laws problems, as under the law of their own country they lacked capacity to marry. yes it is legal, it is quite common practice among Muslims. It is however in western society frowned upon and would likely split a family apart and also there is a significantly increased chance of birth defects in any children they have.

The idea of genetic inbreeding is 95% old wives' tale, though certain disorders like hemophilia can arise from first-cousin matches, though none has been recorded since the Tsarevich of Russia before the Revolution. Hell, Queen Victoria and Kaiser Wilhelm were cousins, and they caused World War I--the Hapsburgs were all "Kissin" cousins at least. You don't say how distant a cousin we're considering here, though.
