In theory you need a permit from the health authority and a license from the chamber of commerce and to pay some small fees for a home business.
BUT can you get away with it going underground? Probably as long as nobody get sick (or fake to get sick) and decide to sue you and call the police on you.
Get the permits and you will sleep better. It's way cheaper than getting a few thousands $$ in fines from the courts. |

You will need to contact you local government to find out if there are any zoning restrictions, permits, taxes necessary. If you're selling food, contact the health department. Different states vary a lot in health code laws about selling food produced out of a personal residence. |

Years ago you could get by with it but those days are gone. Maybe you could now for a couple of hours but I doubt whether there are many places in the US where it is actually legal. Best not to try it. The trouble you could get into isn't worth the small amount of money you would make. I would suggest that you check with the city officials and see exactly what you can do legally in front of your house in order to make some money. |

It depends on where your house is, but probably not. You need a licence and have to meet all the health code requirements to sell food that you prepared. Packaged food in the original packaging is probably ok. You will need to check the specific laws for your city and any deed restrictions for your neighborhood. |
