yes it is as long as the person's death is registered - burial is not a law problem |

Yes
Provided they only land in the sea and on land covered by the high water mark (tide) |

Yep, it's fine. We scattered my grandad's ashes at sea.... he was in the Navy, so was quite fitting. |

My husband and I have agreed that when we die we want our ashes to be put in the sea - we live opposite a beach in Spain. The only difference being that so we can stay together we have given instructions to my daughter to mix our ashes with concrete and fill a wellington boot. The boot to be taken out on a boat and pushed over the side, where it will hopefully sit happily on the bottom! Very odd I guess, but why not be different, besides she gets the apartment so its the least she can do! x
PS Hopefully not for a long while yet! |

I don't know for sure but I doubt it is illegal - it really won't affect anyone else, will it? |

We put my PaPa's ashes in the sea, Firth of Clyde, and the Captain of the car ferry stopped the boat and gave a small service at no cost. |

it is legal isuppose as long as you cremate the person properly and recieve a death certificate then you can do what u want with the ashes |

not sure, but i don't see why you couldn't do it. it's not like they'd arrest you for something like that. besides, ashes are organic anyways. |
|

not for now

It MAY be illegal, but who is to know? I took my mom's ashes to a beach (Myrtle Beach in SC), along with a bunch of sea shells she had collected, and, with one of my brothers, we walked into the surf. We then took the ashes and let them go into the waves. And along with them, the sea shells...it was a memorable event, and another brother recorded it from the shore. We could of bought an ern, I suppose, but their are four of us siblings, and we all agreed to do what we did.
Guess now I may be arrested....but the proof is in the ocean. What ever you decide, just be discreet, and only you and close friends need to know. You didn't mention if you already had the ashes....but if you do, I am sorry for your loss... |

whose permission would you have to ask?
I'm sure its ok as long as you don't do it on a crowded beach or too near any animals or plants. |

I don't see why it should be a problem. People throw rubbish into the sea and don't give a s**t ........ |

I suppose it is in some countries; in some others it is strictly controlled. Also, some places you have to put the ashes in a bio-degradable container rather than scattering the ashes to the wind. |
|

I don't think that it is a problem
You might want to do it when no one is looking because if people don't know what you are doing their might think your crazy but nothing illegal |

Yes. Who will know? There have been many seaside services for loved ones. No problems from what I have heard. |

Did you see that they pumped a couple of million tons of raw sewage into the Firth of Fourth the other day, and they didn't even fix it in a hurry.
You go ahead, at least you won't do any damage. |
