No. Confession/church does not do you any good until the underlying attitude that resulted in the wrong conduct is addressed. |

Um, I think God knows that you are insincere when you confess if you know what you are doing is wrong AND continue to do it anyway. So no, it is not "OK." |

Most people will say no, you shouldn't, then turn around and do the very thing they advise against. Our best choice is not to behave unethically at all instead of hoping that confessing to a priest will provide absolution. |

1) You might be forgiven for doing these things, but that doesn't mean they are OK. In fact, if you need forgiveness for something, that means it was not OK in the first place.
2) If you have to confess it, that means you already know it is not OK.
3) Lying, cheating, and violating other people's privacy are all things that show a lack of faith not only in your fellow human beings, but also in God. If you believe that He will provide, you don't need to do any of those things. |

It sounds like you're finding your own behavior questionable, as though you already know something's amiss with this, and it's begun to erode your inner peace. I hope you'll steer clear of doing anything you might end up tearing yourself up about. As far as going to confession, after the first or second time, doesn't the sincerity become questionable? Maybe this is an obsessive-compulsive vice? I'm glad you're being careful enough to ask the question, and bet you'll see the truth. |
