There is a guy that I have two classes with who has been calling me gay since the beginning of the school year. One day, I asked him, "Are you so in the closet that you have to call me gay to make yourself feel better?" and then he threatened to beat me up.
Another day, one of my friends called him over to our table during lunch and made up that I had said something about him as a joke that I was partially in on. The guy then said, "You better be making this up right now because I really will kick his a-- if he's talking s--t!"
I fear for my safety, especially since I have to spend 90 minutes with him every day AND he lives in my neighborhood. I've talked to the counselor and principal about this on numerous occasions, but it keeps happening. He just never stops. I don't know whether to file a partial restraining order is an appropriate solution.
(By partial restraining order, I mean that he is not allowed to be within so-and-so feet of me with the exception of passing by my house and school/class, and he is not allowed to have any contact with me.)
Additional Details
I live in South Carolina, and I'm well aware that a parent has to file the restraining order.

You can try for one. The problem is, if you are in school, he really can't avoid you if he shares classes with you or other things bring you together, like lockers. So it isn't likely to be granted. Even if it is, it would be tough to enforce.
Let your parents know what is going on and ask them to discuss it with the counselor and the principal. Many states have laws that requires schools to protect students from harassment and bullying.
Can you change schools? I know it's late in the year, so maybe for next year. |
