Is it possible for a person with one to be a volunteer firefighter in the state of Michigan?

I am concerned because there is a man who says he is a "full fledged" firefighter and he has only one arm and cannot even give CPR. Yet he shows up at accidents and medical, fire calls constantly. He also has firefighters gear that he wears. His arm is gone from the shoulder. He cannot put his gear on by himself.

He could be someone who has been on the department for sometime, maybe even before a physical ability test. I would say it is safe to assume that if he was applying today, he would be washed out in the hiring process. If you are concerned enough about your safety, I would bring it up to the chief or a city offical. I'm not saying someone with one cannot be a firefighter, just the hiring process today is very tough.
As for CPR, it would be very difficult with one arm. |

It seems that unless he is the driver of a truck or something like that, that could be a hinderance to the firefighters around him. Maybe even dangerous. |

He could still be a volunteer. They still need people to get equipment, fill SCBA bottles, he could be the incident commander, ect. Their are a lot of things for people to do other than go in and fight the fires. Also, you don't need to have 2 arms to do CPR, if they have an automated CPR machine. |
