IN THE UK
It is , quite rightly, an offence to litter the streets.
In Wolverhampton SEVERAL people have been fined Â£80 for throwing cigarette buts out of the window ... including a senior council employee

Throwing stuff out of cars is dangerous and antisocial
All litter shows disrespect for your/ our towns and villages
The law should be enforced more vigously

Yes - it is littering! You can't guarantee that those ducks will eat the bread, and in any case are you sure you're allowed to feed them? ;-)

I'm not sure about all of the UK but in certain areas it is illegal to feed birds. Throwing stuff from a car IS littering, even if it is biodegradable. I know that on certain beaches in the US (especially Florida) it is illegal to feed sea gulls. But based on their skill and knowledge of people putting out food for them, most probably ignore the law.

It's not about littering. It's about throwing an object from a moving car that can hit another person or even cause an accident.

Yes it's littering, 99% of the time when ppl are feeding ducks, they are standing pond side, not chucking their trash from a moving vehical.

You don't believe this is right and feel very strongly that you are above the law?

If the speed limit is 55 and you are driving 65 is this against the law?
Why not just tear up a paper plate or a plastic cup and drive up to a bunch of pigeons and feed it to them out of your car window?
That wouldn't be against the law would it?
Why not get a air freshener for your car that looks like a handicap permit and hang it from your rear view mirror?

One thing you posted subliminally that seems to have went right over your head was your statement,
"and cant be bothered".
It is really inconvenient when those pesky little laws get in our way when we feel we "cant be bothered".

Throwing an apple core from here car on a public highway is definitely littering. If you are in a park and feeding the ducks is allowed, then you probably wouldn't. In our local park people have had to be stopped from feeding the ducks with bread because the park has become overrun with rats. I have acutally seen them and this is obviously dangerous for little children. Why do people find it so difficult to take their rubbish home with them and put it in the bin?

Yes, littering. It can be very dangerous...picture it hitting your windshield and the accident/surprise it could cause.

It surprises me more that people seem to get more hopped up over an apple core than people who don't want the smell of cigarettes in their car so they throw a still lite butt out of their window, at your moving car, kids can pick up the butts and eat them...ingesting tobacco/nicotine. If they were easily biodegradable, you could just put them in your ashtray and wait for them to poof.

Nobody has been able to prove what would happen if a lit butt got up under your car and let's say hit near your gas tank...

Now that is something people should get ticketed for...

it depends where u throw it i think. if it's in an urban area then it's littering, if it's in a rural area it's not.

Well that's a different story, if your feeding the ducks you should throw it in the water for them or close to the side. But nothing eats and apple core so it's classed as literring yes

hoovarted is a complete mentalist thats all i can say. Never heard such bull and nonsense in my life. Air freshener as disabled badge? I think someone has been on the crack! And nobody ever used to stop anyone feeding birds bread when i was younger its simply the world's gone mental and everyone is out to tell everyone else what they should and shouldn't do to the point we debate about apple cores. Seriously there are far far far far far more important things in life and also agree greatly with what someone else said about woman going to court over apple core! This is truely shocking when there are real crimes that should be first on the agenda. Simples. Dont agree with apple core being thrown but like someone else said when many apples go rotten from falling naturally from tree's do we call the litter police? No but a single apple core and people are getting high and mighty and tryin to make out their all green peace. Bet you.ve done it once and apple core will disappear unlike proper rubbish. Lets restore sanity once more
