If they killed the person with a rock, would you sue the earth?
People kill people, guns don't kill people. |

No they make guns...people use guns....BIG DIFFERENCE |
|

rizinoutlaw
|
no...they need to worry more about the scum who held the weapon not the weapon maker |
|

Bill
 |
No. The weapon functions as designed, and is created legally.
It is no more logical to sue Glock if I shoot you with my Glock 33 than it is for you to sue Chevrolet if I intentionally run over you with my Corvette.
In both cases, the misconduct is mine. |

If kill someone with a pencil, should the pencil company be sued? |
|

no. |
|

?
 |
No, its the murders fault. |

No - guns are legal and need to stay legal.
As they say - guns do not kill people. people kill people. |

Would you take an automobile maker to court if someone was a victom of a drunk driver? |
|

NeRdYkId1101

Would you sue the makers of the Louiville slugger if your brother was beaten to death with one?
How about the makers of Ginsu knives if one were sued to chop off your arm?
Or maybe Toyota and Busch because a drunk driver killed your cousin? |

Only if it can be shown that the gun manufacturer violated any laws in the sale of the gun. It remains legal to manufacture guns in the United States and the kind of firearms and the capabilities of firearms are strictly controlled. |

No. The weapon can't fire itself. It's the person that used it that's responsible. |
|

pelenpuppy
 |
no...it's anger that fuels such law suits. It's a sad situation and the living are just trying to blame anyone they feel are responsible for the death of a loved one. We all know that it's the owner of the gun that killed the victim...the gun was just a weapon, if not a gun then a knife. |

NO!!!! I don't own a gun, but I have nothing against them. Guns don't kill. PEOPLE KILL with guns, knives, cars, whatever is handy at the time. Should we all be on foot because someone was killed by a car?
If parents would teach their children right from wrong, and refuse to accept video games like Grand Theft Auto, we would not have this issue. |
|

Absolutely not. If that was the case, we'd be suing everybody. |
|

Middlefinger!

NO, they should not ever be allowed to sue the manufacturer of the weapons.
However, I understand their pain; uncontrolled grief leads them to sue when they can't get justice from the legal system.
Murderers are let go on a whim and if they are convicted, they are confined in dormitory-like holding facilities.
If it were up to me, EVERY convicted murderer would go to a super-max prison in Alaska! |

Well it depends...did the person die from a discharge from the gun that he/she was operating? Or was this person murdered by someone using a gun? Or was this an accident?
*Discharge?....possibly yes. You would have to prove that the gun malfunctioned while being operated at the time of death (that would be tough)
*Murder?....Absolutely not. the person firing the gun goes to jail.
*Accident?....No way. Proper gun safety should have been followed. BTW they don't just hand out guns anymore, there's a Five day waiting period for that. The person that owned the gun is at fault. |

hell no how was it the manufactures fault that some dumb *** bought their gun to kill someone or hurt someone guns are for protection |
|

No. MOST guns are used in legal manners. Show me a gun who loaded itself and then shot someone maliciously? |
|

Nope. Wait a sec, I meant to say Nope. |

Sure, providing you follow through with that principle on everything else. Sue the hammer maker when you hit your thumb, the boat maker if you drown, the car maker if you have an accident, and so on. If you can't or won't take responsibility for your own actions, I guess the only thing left is to sue. Especially if you order coffee, and the cup says "contents may be hot" and you pour it on your leg...sue sue sue. Never take responsibility, it has to be someone else's fault. |

Heck no! People will do anything to gain a buck! Friggin sue happy country. They need to abolish some of these lawyers |

The weapon is made to shoot the bullet. The manufacturer does not control where the bullet goes. Murder has been illegal since before the gun was made.
Should people be able to recover damages from car manufacturers when they're injured in a wreck? Should cutlery makers be sued over stabbings? Why not ban golf clubs, since they can kosh you on the head? And let's sue the makers of other weapons, too: rolling pins, frying pans, scissors, razors, and the list goes on forever.
Stupid. |
|

Silly me
|
No |
|

fr_chuck
|
no, it is a disgrace for them to try, only the person who used the gun is the one to blame |
|

Crosseyed Kitty
 |
No. People shoot people. If I fall off my bike and break something is it the manufacturers fault? No. It's not.
Another point. I was almost hit by a driver who was on the phone and making an illegal u turn on Market street today. If he had hit me, would I sue the car maker, the cell phone company |
|

otis the brave (luke 22:36)

NO!!! the lawsuit will not ease their suffering or bring back their loved ones, it will only increase the manufacturing cost of a necessary good, making it harder for the lower income law abiding families to protect their homes. it would do nothing to end gun violence. don't blame anyone but the perpetrator. |
