She can't be that frail if she's making all her neighbours' lives a total misery! |

She should have thought about breaking the law then first shouldnt she? Why should she be let off breaking the law because of her age - shes old enough to know better. |
|

lol
|
they should have a prison for old people lol |

Age should not be a factor. If she repeatedly broke the law, then the real question is, why shouldn't she go to jail? |
|

Age does not permit one to rise above the law and act as they see fit. She is going to jail because she has committed a crime, end of. |

If you can't do the time then don't do the crime......are you seriously saying that when a person exceeds a certain age they should be allowed to break the law as much as they want andnot be subject to the same punishments and anyone else?????? |

If you do the crime, you should do the time!
She should be glad they don't use the chain gangs anymore! |

You do the crime, you do the time. |

Yes she broke the law and the law won. She deserves it. |

If she broke the law, and her mind isnt wacky, then yes. She should be protected a little more, since she's frail, but she does need to pay for the crime. |

How long is she going to be in jail?
She broke the asbo she has to have some kind
of punishment. I'd say a month in jail might teach
her a lesson. Surprised that someone that age
hasn't learned to not mistreat others. Do unto
others as you would have them do unto you. |

yes, why should she get away with breakign the law just cos she's old, she used that as an excuse to avoid court previously so why not? you wouldn't question it if she had murdered a child (I know it's it's not as drastic as that but wanted to make my point that it's still the law) |
|

Lovely Lady

She was fit and able enough to commit the crime so I think she should do the time!
But is it clear if she fully understood the terms of her asbo? Or is she maybe suffering from some form of dementia? |

i think so. |

if she broke the law yes. The laws do not state - dont murder - unless your 81, then its ok |

Depends on what she did. |

We have to assume that the lady in question (although her behaviour has not been at all ladylike!) has been adequately examined by the geriatric mental health team, as much of her behaviour sounds as though it is consistent with senile dementia. If she is, in fact, suffering from dementia, then it is scandalous to put her away. If she is enjoying good mental health, then she cannot be seen as above the law and must take her punishment. Perhaps older people should be separately catered for, as young offenders are. It is hard to see how prison is going to have a good effect on her general well-being. |

Not all 80 year olds are frail some are in better condition than those younger than them. |

If she broke the law then yep, fraid it is! |

sorry but i must say that age is just a number, would anyone say the same about a 15 "too young and naive" year old repeat offender? |

Are you seriously telling me I can do what I want when I get old. I.m not that far away from being old. Yipee!!!! |

If she wasnt prepared to do the time then she should have committed the crime. These abusive neighbours want stopping & punishing no matter how old they are.
She wasnt too frail to break the ASBO terms was she?? |

I notice no-one had a problem with 10 year olds going to jail for murder, why should an 81 year old be allowed to get away with breaking the law either?
The law applies to everyone regardless of age, gender, race or level of fame (I wish). |

Age doesn't exempt you from jail...If she did it, then she has to go. |
|

Nothing seemed to have taught her that what she was doing was wrong and the Magistrate was right to sentence her to 6 months for repeatedly ignoring ASBO's.
She will do 3 months and be released. However, as the term was 6 months, the remainder will be enforced if she fails to observe the rule of Law again. |

the law is the law!she chose to break the law;and she knew the penalty . |

Well, she's certainly old enough to know better! You cant get away with making people's lives a misery because you're old. |

I can't wait to be old - I am going to a Cantankerous old biddy with loads of cats and hit small children round the legs with my walking stick. No she shouldn't go - she is probably lonely or had some Ronda done by her and hits out at those around her who probably wined her up to do so. leave the olds alone - |
