Is it time TV licences are abolished?

Is it time TV licences are abolished?

many people pay subscriptions for things they like to watch, some buy free view. others watch commercial tv. some prefer bbc. so as there is so much choice why are we forced to buy a licence as a tax on a tv.
Additional Details
for the people who like bbc and find they are getting value for money please spare a thought for thoses who dont, and will go to prison if they dont buy a licence.

you hit the nail on the head, a free meal for the taxman, and not enough moaners to change their minds, we suffer the three card trick every time, its about time we changed the game and dealer.

Yes it is. We seem to be paying over the odds for repeats. It seems just another way to con money out of the public. I wouldn't mind paying it if they showed some decent programmes.

Yes it is, the BBC is an outdated government mouthpiece, I'm fed up with being lectured to by a bunch of politically correct new labour cronies and having to pay for the privilege.

i understand you must have a licence to watch tv. rubbish, mine works ok without one........thats not true ... iv just paid it today..... one hundred and frigging thirty pounds fifty pence.....

I agree, they should be......But its a money grabber like everything else in England....And we Brits sit back and accept it all. In Spain there is no Licence at all, and they get on perfectly well...Only trouble is the adverts run twice as long.

Yes it should be abolished they say its because the bbc doesn't advertise but you still have to sit through 5mins of trailers of thier other programmes all the time and now i have sky i rarely watch the bbc .

So that the channels that don't use advertisers can make quality programmes. I don't want advertising on every channel. I can't stand it. I'd much rather pay a licence fee.

Yeah, I'm an American and when I lived in England I couldn't believe they charge you separately for your TV. It's just crazy to me. Isn't it several hundred pounds a year, on top of your subscription services?

vambo the fourth
Just don't pay it. It's an outdated and pernicious tax.

James
i like the bbc, so i will carry on paying it happily

Yes!!Long over due!!

The BBC is the best thing about television. If God could forbid anything then it would definetly be those advert channels those that insist on breaking the mould by showing their wears every fifteen minutes.
