Is it time now in the UK to seriously consider bringing back flogging?

.Flogging no, birching yes. Used to be standard practise in the lsle of Man. There was never trouble in the holiday season .The birching would be for those caught red handed or where there was DNA evidence. Thats just for the first offence, after that it would be jail, not jail we know today I mean hard labour, pointless labour like the treadmill, rock breaking, chain gangs doing conservation work and environment cleaning. Need to keep them occupied, need to let experience whats happen when you break the law. Biching for anyone who steps out of line .

What really needs to happen is better parenting, lets get shut of the law that says parents and teachers.can't give corporal punishment. We need after school education by Jesuit priests for parents and children. With birching for those failing to attend. All children to be in the Boys Brigade, Scouts or cadets.Compulsory adoption for all babies born out of wedlock. Re-education programmes for all parents who children have a conviction, with birching for those failing to attend. All covicted crimals made to report to a policestation for one hour every eveny. Withdraw from the European Human Rights Act and a new UK human rights Act.

If you elect me and my party, the above with form part of my Government legislated programme for the first year. Further polices will be announced as they are formulated

If the Government brought it back and charged an entrance fee to watch. There would be no need for taxation/duty on fuel.

The money would just flow into the exchequer's coffers.

The NHS would save money, and use it for better purposes than stitching up chavs, such as bigger offices for Managers.

The Police paperwork would halve, thus allowing them more time nicking motorists.

And, most important there would be absolutely boodles of cash to spend on Parliamentary Expenses.

Maybe not flogging yet but I would consider the stocks when people threw rotten fruit and urine, public humiliation may work.

People who take a life should forfeit their own. People who are prepared to cause others physical pain should be give a dose of their own medicine and Flogged . People who would steal should be given a prison sentence and made to pay back twice the value of the stolen goods plus the goods if possible.Noncompliance should be taken seriously and cost of Prison Custody should also be claimed for from the wrong-doer. The thugs will not be so keen to misbehave and claim Celebrity status for any ASBO or conviction. I feel now we have no other option that will have even the slightest chance of success.

Sir, I am not sure it will work it's a short term solution to a growing problem.
Am I correct in thinking you are referring to the growing knife crime in Britain ?
Youth Crime is growing and will continue to grow until someone has the courage to stand up and say,STOP!!!!!!
What deterrents are in place? NON.
I work with these young people and they laugh at the idea of the Law. If asked are you afraid, of going to jail? The answer is always NO!!! They do not respect it or anything.
If they do end up in jail, then it becomes a social gathering for
them and their friends as they can continue their gang culture there.
They believe Community Services is a joke. Most of them just put in the hours and do nothing. They say that they enjoy intimidating those they work with.
We had a discussion recently on Juvenile Correction and when I asked them what they would do if they were in charge, I was surprised when most of them said they would sentence young people to serve time in the army as punishment.They also said that people found guilty of crimes should loose their rights. One even went so far as to say Children's Allowence/Child Welfare Payments should be taken away from their parents. I asked why? and he said that all his Mum does with it is pay for her drugs. Another boy said that this payment should go to pay for any damage they did. If it was taken from the parents as punishment for their children's crimes they said , then their parents might be more concerned about where they were and what they were doing.
All of the youth, I work with have never experienced boundaries or sanctions in their life. No one has ever said No to them.
We owe it to our young people to provide guidance to them.
If we fail them then we fail our future generations.

Beheading in the market place sounds good don't you think? Flogging is common place in some countries.
Where should we start? Shoplifting? Oh no that should be a hand chopping off job I think!
We have had flogging, it changed nothing at all, in fact if I was subjected to a public flogging I would seek out those that had helped me be convicted to this punishment, and my next sentence would be having my head chopped.
I would seek revenge, which is the very thing you are advocating.
What then is the answer to our problems???
I haven't a clue , nor has anyone else, it must have all been tried before, nothing has changed.

Well now ANYONE can be arrested without being charged for 42 days, you can be the first eh? then you can tell all of us what it was like. That's just what they want, don't fall for it. Yes it's the government who are behind it, like every thing else, as this sort of thing starts at the age of three, when the state takes control of all yougster, until they leave school at around 16, the state has control of teaching them right from wrong, and 'respect', but that's not what they want if there going to control them, they need bigger and better police forces, and laws like arrest without charge, and cctv cameras all over etc, can't you see they want a unruly population, so the people will call for more and more police and strong punishment, by this we are asking them to control us, more and more.

Absolutely not, barbaric style of punishment would not necessarily solve anything. And, as with capital punishment, what about wrongful convictions?
