There is no federal requirement for employee breaks. It varies by state. Search for your state's labor department and you'll find the information when you go to that site. |

Depends where you are. It's a matter of State law. In CA it's ten minutes in a shift of 3 1/2 hours or more. In some States there is no break mandated.

There are some stipulations to this rule and it also depends on where you reside at. Not every company is required by law to give a 15 minute break in a four hour period. For some this maybe because of the companies instituted policy and meets the standards of the Labor Laws of your state. Others such as the Hospitality Lodging/Restaurants must by law give a mandatory break. Regulations vary from company to company. What is widely misconcepted is that companies are required to do so. Again, this varies and depends on what they as an operation have instituted with regards to this matter. If the operation is short staffed and or swamped they will at some time have to compromise for the break period. |

As everyone else has said, this is a state issue, so we can't tell you for sure. But I can assure you that you PROBABLY need to get at least a 10 minute break for a shift like that. And even if it's not required by law, any smart employer will give you a break. |
