Lol yes cause you are taking the law on your own hands. If you do that you are just as bad as that person who did that as well. You are not fixing anything. If anyone could do that there will not be law and the police and imagine what could happen if that was the case everyone will be doing wrong to everyone and it will be chaos. We will go back to like the stone age where Law didn't exist.
The law is there to punish those who are doing wrong and prevent from situations like this one to get any worse. Because he is steals from you, you steal from them. Then you fight, then you punch him, then it is physical harassment and then he might decide to do something worse to get back at you and so on. |

If it was stolen from you it still remains technically your property. You can't steal your own property you reclaim it so your question is not logical.
It might be wrong to enter another persons premises to reclaim your property |

Not morally, but legally you could get into big trouble if you can't prove ownership. |

It depends on the measures you take to get it back. |

Yes it is illegal to "steal" back stolen proerty.
It is why OJ Simpson is about to go to jail in Las Vegas.
If you have proof that your goods were stolen, and know where it is , call the police. |

Technically speaking you cannot be guilty of theft if you already own the item in question. It would simply be taking the item back.

no its not, an old "friend" stole a cd from me, so when i saw it at her house (i knew it was mine it had a K drawn on it so my sister wouldn't nick it) and i took it back.
if she noticed it gone then all she would have to do is ask me where it was. |

If it was stolen, you are still technically the owner, so go right ahead.. If you get caught and cannot prove you are the owner though, you might get in trouble.. |

Nope not at all, unless it was stolen in a misunderstanding originally- then you must tell them why you're taking it and take it. |

The only problem I see is proving it's yours, if that's not a problem then it's not stealing. |

Well, at first your question seems simple, and then after reading all your answers, it is really complicated! I guess, it would depend on the situation. Was your cat or dog stolen? I would just go take back my cat or dog. It could get into a rough and tumble argument but I would take back my cat or dog. I would be more cautious about who I allowed to enter my apartment or house. Some people pretend to be friends but really want to steal something out of yours. I do not really know a simple yes or no answer to this question as it depends on the situation.Bye! |
