Is marijuana legal if its part of your religion?

If your a Rastafarian is it legal to smoke ganja since its part of your religion?

I believe here in the UK the police turn a blind eye as long as it is kept inside a recognised Rastafari place of worship. This isn't the same as it being legal.

In March, 2009, The U.S. Supreme Court just reaffirmed their previous ruling on Indian use of Peyote.

The recent case involves a small church in Ashland, Ore. that imports an obscure drug called "ayahuasca" from South America for use in religious ceremonies.

The S. Court said the drug in question must be used in the ceremonies of an existing religion somewhere in the world. The users in the U.S. must be members of that religion, and can only use the drugs in conjunction with religious ceremonies.

So, Yes, but you can't start a church alleging Marijuana is part of your religious experience. You must go find an existing church somewhere in the world and join it.

The Supreme Court has ruled on this matter. Native Americans who used peyote as a part of their ceremonies challenged the law and lost.
