It is the way. It is God's way. |

religious, cuz you could live with someone and it be the same as being married so i dont think it has nothing to do with being a legal right. |

It's not a right, it's a rite.
The difference between the two is this. A right is something guaranteed by government or morality eg. the American constitution guarantees inalienable rights. A rite is a religious ceremony
Marriage in church is a religious rite. Marriage itself is a social and societal contract. |
|

Hey there

It depends on the people who are getting married, because religion is subjective to the individuals. For me, its both. |

Marriage is a religious right, which the government, for some odd reason, decided to take control of. |

Marriage is a religious rite, whereas legal unions are regulated by state governences. |

Comes from religion... so I'm guessing it's a religious right. |

I think marriage is a religious right.
But i think the legal benefits/responsibilities married people get, should be enjoyed by any two people who want to enter into it. |

It's a legally binding agreement. Some people get married in completely secular settings (lawyer's office, for instance). Many choose to attribute religious significance to it, but it is also a legal institution. |

YES and NO. Both answers are equally valid AND equally invalid. Is murder a crime or a sin? |

Both. You can have a legal marriage without religious implications; you can also have a religious marriage without legal implications -- but few people would opt for this. |

ITS A LEGAL RIGHT under the law.... but I dont think churches should be forced to marry someone they dont want to wed because of their beleifs. |

Legal right. The government offers many rights with marriage, such as the right to see your partner if they fall critically ill in the hospitals. Also, atheists can get married, as do other religions. in the case of Loving V Virgina, marriage was called ""basic civil rights of man." |
