Frankly, I think I am more qualified to answer this question than some of the other people simply because you can tell by their posts that they abhor "rich people" paying off judges and law enforcement. But to be honest, any lawyer would have been able to have her serve a lot less time, be on probation, and/or have a ton of community service. People think she deserved what she got but I can honestly tell you that anyone with her record but not her name would have had a shorter sentence. They are clearly making an example of her but there are other ways to do it. Many judges offer work release and my mom, who happens to be a superior court judge, said that the most jail time served for anyone with Paris's record was ten days (because of overcrowding) or work release with probation and community service. It is very clear, as well as unethical, that the prosecution was anxious to make an example of her. They should be disbarred. |

You think that's harsh? Try coping with the loss of a family member to a drunk driver, especially one used to buying their way out of trouble. |

No. She should've gotten a prison term. You do realize she was driving on a suspended license after getting a DUI...She's getting everything she deserves. |

no she deserves 1 to 5 years which is the mandatory sentence in California for people who violate parole . |

She got caught, was told not to drive, got caught again, was warned she could be in deep trouble, allowed to bail out, got caught again= then she and her mother made cuastic remarks and treated a judge rudely because they thought seh was above the law. WRONG!!! She got what she deserved!! |

I think she should've been placed in a prison where the inmates could get a hold of her and belt a bit of sense into her, bring her back down to earth! |

Not only was she driving with a suspended liscene, but she was also driving under the influence of alcohol. This is not Paris' first DUI offence. if she was in NY state, she would've gotten a longer sentence at least 3 years and 500 hrs of community service. different states have different guidlines. I don't think she is getting harsh treament. Paris needs this jail time to slow down and think. why was she driving under the influence anyway? dosen't she have a driver or something she can call? I mean why would she put herself in a situation where she could harm herself or others. those are the questions that her family and herself are hopefully trying to dal with. |

no, she deserved what she got, i'm glad that for once mommy and daddies money couldnt get her out of trouble. maybe she will have a wake up call and stop being such a brat. I hope she is safe in jail, but she deserves to be there. she broke the law, again and again and again, its her own fault. |

Should the state waits until she kills someone. Why is your friend taking advantage of this country, he has a license, or does he just drive without one of those also. He or she probably gets welfare and rental assistance also right. I think that they are making an example of Paris, but they should do this to everyone. I dont think 45 days cuts it though. Thats like a vacation, she wont learn anything. I have to friend that were killed by a driver that had been drinking. She only had three drinks. She said she felt fine, she was just tired. She has tp serve 10 years, because they only gave her Vehicular Manslaughter, but the families of the Victims have been dealt a life sentence. |

Yes and no. Paris Hilton is a steryotipical person who thinks of no person but herself. She was respectful to the judge while your friend on the other hand went to court in a nice shirt and pants. Paris Hilton on the other hand went in a very revealing dress. Your friend may also have not said "um..." every other sentence. |

Larry king was talking about this this morning. you gotta remember Paris has been charged with a DUI or DWI i don't remember more then once, and with a suspended license. they were arguing that some people only get 3 days for suspended license but they had to be reminded that she is being jailed for more then that. 45 days is nothing she could of gotten 90! she needs ta do the time and LEARN that no one is above the law! |
