Is the death penalty a logical punishment for rape?

This faulty logic has been used in many occasions by anti-capital punishment zealots. Think about it. If the would-be rapist knew he'd face death, maybe he wouldn't commit the crime to begin with. And what's to keep a rapist from killing the victim even if he wasn't going to face a death sentence? No witnesses means less chance to be caught.

The death penalty should apply to all repeat, violent offenders. The criminal lover lawyer has granted them nearly absolute immunity. They have to commit 100's of crimes before getting any punishment whatsoever.

Well you know what your right, your absolutely right. I agree with you 100%. The consequences should be MUCH worse. First off I think that they should get their 'package' ripped off. Then I think that for how ever long the rape lasted you should be tortured for that many years. The rape victim should be able to pick your torture. And then in the end you should suffer a long and painful death. Then you can go rot in hell. Sorry if that was to much but you asked for my opinion and you got it.

i think they need to be given life without parole...let the other convicts take care of them....death is too easy of a way out...give them time to realize what they did for the rest of their lives..let them sit in a 4x8 cell...never get out and never be able to seeing anyone again

"So once I raped her, I could kill her and not be punished for it (because I cannot be killed twice)"

how could you kill her if they kill you first?

While the victim sets in front under a tree with a Ice cold glass of lemonade. And stares at the Rapist and ask the question. How do you fill.

I believe that Death is not a good penalty for rape.

Someone that rapes is an evil monster.
A killer faces the same punishment that they caused to the victim.
A rape victim has to try and hold their life together and deal with what has happened to them.
A rapist should be castrated.
While I realise that some people hold that women could rape as well, I personally believe that rape is a crime comitted by males only.
Castration (and i mean chop EVERYTHING off) is a fair punishment as they would then have to live with the consequences of their action for the rest of THEIR life and would be unable to use their 'weapon' again. Couple this with a jail term and then they will be in an environment where they may be raped themselves.

Hmmmmmmmm........use your head and ask a rape victim how she felt after the incident. You being male and having an opinion doesn;t have much credibility until you ask the right person.

The Supreme Court of your country has abolished the death penalty for the rape of children. Logic may be with you. The ethics of the question may be less clear. Do the national women's organizations of the U.S. remain mute on an issue like this?

I am favor hard labor over the death penalty. Even under an "eye for an eye" system, rape is the logical punishment for rape, not execution.

i think it would be a good punishment, but i also think that a crime done should be punished with the crime for example if you rape someone you should be raped and then have to carry out your punishment such a 25 to life or death penalty
i also think there should be no punishment less than 20 years.

Theres something not right in your head to ask this question. To me you souldnt be sentenced to death. Its a quick an easy way out. You should recieve slow painful torture everyday for the rest of you days with your victim deciding on which torture you should have. Ie:- Finger stretching one by one in a vice or castration with a desert spoon and no availabe pain relief for any of your torture.

To me, it depends on the age of the victim. Older females do have a chance to fight back. Kids don't. And no, I don't agree with your logic. I don't see most rapists as killers. Maybe I'm wrong.

With how scarred a person's memory and mind are after rape, I would not put too much trust into rape convictions.

When a person is *convicted* of rape, that doesn't mean they actually *performed* rape, they were just found by a jury to have no "reasonable doubt." Which is a very vague term to base execution upon.

I think putting them in a place where they are likely to be raped is fine. The death penalty I think is a little too much. Maybe we could have a mandatory rape sentence, just to make sure.

I agree, chemical and physical castration for rape, then death for death. If you commit both, you should be castrated before you are executed. Take away the real criminal, hormones.

I was at one time like you, a proponent for the death penalty. I have since changed my mind after watching so much pain from the victim's family members. The death of a criminal is final, but the pain for the victim's family never goes away.

Let's look at an alternative.

6 Months after being sentenced to the NEW Immobilization Penalty the criminal is subjected to the following procedures;
1) he is placed in a ward for this type criminal, there is no TV, no radio only their voices will be heard.
2) a needle is placed into his upper spine to medically induce total paralysis to keep them from moving their arms and legs. they will be able to move their heads from side to side and talk.
3) a feeding tube is inserted to feed them.
4) they remain there until they die from old age or whatever.

The good thing about this is that if and when they find new evidence to free this person, you just rehab them back to health and release them. If you killed them, it's too late and you killed an innocent person.

I agree...NO death penalty for rape..BUT have to go to Prison to find out what it is like.....BAM!!

Yes . Im against the death penalty but if it has to be used i think it should only be used against murderers.

that's grosse and descusting you must like them being alive doing once you, more likly to do it again. Some I know one have done it for there famliy and friends. Some have done it for the childeren and wifes.
