Is the life of a Lawyer really as glamorous as its depicted?

I want to practice constitutional law, and I'm curious as to what I'm getting myself into. Additional Details Thanks for all the input.
And for the record, I don't want to do it just for the money. I love learning more about legal issues and everything about law just fascinates me.

Law serves a purpose like any other job. It is challenging to be a lawyer, it is also a lot of fun. There is not much certainty in law notwithstanding precedents and statutes and yes the Constitution too.
There are just vague guideposts and based on that and the available facts you make an argument. My favorite course in law school was Constitutional law, but I practice in another filed, though occasionally I do encounter issues of Constitutional dimension.
The biggest law firm in the world is the U. S. Government. they employ tens of thousands of lawyers. They work at the U.S. DOL; the SEC, the FBI; the CIA; the TSA; the SSA; the DOJ; the State Department and so on. If you love law and want to work hard; you will be fine, if not; do not bother. |

You spend 80 hours a week for 46 weeks a year sitting at a desk and reading legal documents. You spend two weeks a year cutting deals with your opponents. You spend two weeks a year in court and two weeks a year trying to forget all this on vacation. |

If you're a person who doesn't feel guilty for loosing a clients case, then sure. If you're a person who doesn't mind being stressed out most of the time and working long hours for money, then sure. |

That's your point of view and nobody else's. One may like it, one may not. It's for you to decide. You never let your parents decide for you ultimately so why start now. |

glamourous? you kidding? people despise lawyers, and it's not easy work, but in some cases, it's great money. so, do it anyway |

no it is not that glamorous. my ex is a lawyer and there were nights he would be up until 2 3 in the morning and then have to be in court at 9 which meant meeting with clients at 8 so being to the office by 7. i mean of course its fun to tell people you are an attorney and heck the money is great but you shouldn't want to do it for the money you should be wanting to do it because you want to help people. i am not saying that you don't want to help people. i hope you get what i am saying. i think if you want to be an attorney go for it! its hard work long hours but it pays off in some instances its just not like Legally Blonde or something lol |

Most Lawyers getting money from bad guys. That's not good.
But beside Lawyer, there is also a good job for Law School graduates: Public Notaries to handle official documents or contracts or land/property documents.
That gives you a great income. I've heard someone who own 74 houses that work as Public Notary. |

It depends on the individual and the surroundings. It looks glamorous but at the same time there is stress.
If someone just wants the glamor without hard work, then career as a lawyer is not suitable for him/her.
To become a practising lawyer, you need a mental toughness. Knowing the law and its theory is not enough.
Interest in law is a good starting point. But without mental toughness you will feel exhausted.
How old are you?
Add:
If law interest you, then go for it.
But life as a lawyer is not glamorous all the time.
I suggest you read The Street Lawyer and The King of Torts by John Grisham. The books are fiction, so the stories in the books are not true. However the stories depict the life of a lawyer as close as the reality (the writer is a former lawyer).
After reading the novels and you still feel lawyer's works are interesting, then don't hesitate to enroll in a law course. |

Constitutional law is a tough area to get into. Lawyers, especially new lawyers work a tremendous number of hours. In your first year or two, 60 hours is a light week. It can combine tedious, mind numbing boredom with extremely high stress. If you love constitutional law, go for it. If it's the "glamour" that appeals to you, I'd forget it. There isn't any. |
