At my work management can get a little crazy if we are not busy enough. I work the front end, where we really do not do much selling.. after all it is mostly cashiering. Anyways, today they made a new rule where if we point to a customer where something is instead of taking them directly to it we get a three day suspension without pay. No warnings, nothing, just the suspension. Although we work in the front end, we often have to go back to do returns. I can get swamped by five customers at a time asking me where something is, so you can imagine how hard it would be to walk each customer to every item without making them wait an unreasonable time. Most just want to be told where the item is. Is the policy too harsh, and should I just quit and find a better job? I am just out of high school by the way and starting college soon, so job opportunites are slim. What should I do?

Walking customers to the item in the store so they can find it is NOT unreasonable at all -it's good customer service. If that's more than you can handle, find another job. |
