Is there a such thing as a woman a paying child support or is it soley up to the father?

Oh yeah, I've heard of it. I've heard of a woman going to jail for not paying child support as well. Doesn't seem to be that common, but maybe it is.

Yes ther is. I pay $800 a month for my son. My job requires me to travel 3 forths of the month, so I pay to see my son.

Yes, it can and does happen - quite frequently, in fact. And why shouldn't it? I mean, if a woman loses custody of her child to the father, is she not also responsible for the care and upbringing of her own child?

Child support is based on who has physical custody of the child mother or father can be responsible for child support

If the father gets custody of the child(ren) and requests support and it's granted by the judge, then the woman pays it (or suffers the consequences).

Since each state has its own support laws, any generalization may not apply to the state you are in. However, in general child support laws consider the time the child spends with each parent, and each parents' income.

When I was in practice I had the court jail a mother who had not paid child support to my client, the father with custody.

If the father has custody of the kids and the mother has an income, then she pays child support.

If the father has full time custody of the child/children then yes the mother is responsible for paying child support. They have changed father's rights when it comes to their children. Jeffery Leving wrote a book called "Father's Rights", it is a good book, me and my hubbie bought it to help out with his court case with his ex wife and we learned a lot that we brought up to our lawyer and he was able to bring to court and he won.

Child support is paid by the parent who does not have custody. Thus, it is much rarer for a father to get custody and not the mother. However, it and and does happen.

If a woman doesn't get custody of the children, then she's not going to collect support for kids she doesn't have. Instead, she'll be ordered to pay support to the father, who has custody.

If the father gets custody for some reason, the mother is required to pay child support. Support is for the child, not the parent so it does not matter which parent has custody.

Yes many women do pay child support.

If the woman is the noncustodial parent then she can be ordered to pat childsupport.

it depends on who the child live with if its live with the father the mother haves to pay if it lives with the mother the father have to pay...thats how it go my best friend pay childsupport for her daughter

Of course. The laws are gender-neutral, but that doesn't mean that judges don't have their own biases when "awarding" kids to a certain parent. If the couple has assumed traditional roles, the kids will probably be awarded to the mom, unless she is a total loser, abusive etc. Moms have to be pretty bad to be denied custody of their kids. Dads who voluntarily take on the support of the whole family by having a stay-at-home mom-wife, will likely be treated as a mere paycheck in the court system and have to pay child support. Dads often have to fight tooth and nail to get joint custody. I feel dads are often treated very badly in the family court system - they should be out on the streets protesting!
