The name forged on what? The envelope or a check. If you are asking about a check, you can notify the bank. The bank will hold the check upon receiving it, you can then file charges for identity theft, the DA could add forgery to the charges provided it can be proved from the original check the bank has. The charges of course would be filed against the forger. The recipient could be filed on as conspirator or party to the identity theft, as well as receiving a forged check (funds) if they cashed it knowing that the check was a forgery and not in fact from you. Again that would have to be proved. The funds if drawn for your account would have to returned to you by the person who cashed the check, as ordered by the court. The bank will not issue a credit for the funds, they do that in the case of debit or credit card because they can seek their money as a reversal they can not do that in the case of a check. |
