Hi, I work for benefits, this situation is what we refer to as a contrived tenancy which is a tenancy set up to take advantage of the benefits system so yes it is fraud.
You need to contact your local housing benefits department, you can do this completely confidentially and you don't have to give them your name. The may ask you questions like describing them or car registration numbers, then thats all you have to do. Local goverment Fraud officers have a lot of legal powers so they will get to the bottom of this, once found guilty they will have to pay back all the money they have stolen from the tax payer |

yes it is fraud, i dont think you need any evidence to shop them, you would just make the council aware and they might look into it them selves |

that is definitley fraud, it can easily be proved by the council as they have their own fraud investigators and they have the power to access bank accounts to see where the cash was paid. get in touch with the relevant council and ask to talk to the fraud investigator, did you know they even access tesco clubcard information to trap people who lie about partners living with them. |

if this is true then it is fraud and could also possibly tax evasion as it would be classed as un earned income and should be declared by the father as such . |

I was under the impression that H/B wouldn't pay any amount if the house belonged to a close relative. Its one of the questions that are asked when you apply for benefits. |

You don't need evidence it is up to the social to find evidence, you just report your suspicions and they do the rest. But as her father owns the house I'm sure they will fiddle it in some way to make it look like she pays him rent.
Judging by the thumbs down for the people advising you report her there is a hell of a lot of benefit cheats on yahoo answers! |

Well if he is giving her half the money I doubt she has declared this income. So if that is the case it is fraud. |

yes it is fraud and you should report them - they are basically stealing from very tax payer
you dont need any evidence as the reports are investigated by the appropriate people

report her she is taking money illegally I hate anyone who takes my money I pay in taxes whilse they sit on their arses all day and do sod all to contribute!
If she is investigated she will have to prove she is giving him this amount of money and where she is getting the money from to pay him.
If he is classed as her landlord which he should be if she is receiving any benefits they will both be in trouble for lying! |

The big question. Is this fraud? Of course it is, blatantly. However before I launch into the 'scroungers defrauding the taxpayers' routine let me pose a question.
Is it right for the government to play ball with the huge corporations that are squeezing the little man so hard to the point that in some cases, not all, the little man is driven to desperate measures to survive? Is it a form of fraud when the Oil organisations & corporations profit obscenely from those who can ill afford it to line their greedy pockets. These people have more money than they could ever spend in 100 lifetimes. They have enough combined wealth to solve an awful lot of problems in this world & where do you think that comes from? Our pockets. While they are luxuriating in this wealth & while their crony execs who run the power companies are awarding themselves huge end of year bonuses our old age pensioners are freezing in the winter because they cannot afford to put their meagre sustenance into their pockets. It's absolutely heartbreaking.
Yes what this person is doing is wrong, but there are many more who are legally, at least as far as we know & we probably never will, committing a far worse evil & that is where our focus should be. |

watch yourself with this one The ladys dad may have a fake rent book already made up just in case they are reported You may find yourself in a court of law for defermation of charector under the civil rights law even if you are correct My advice would be to make a call to your local council on a telephone that cant be traced to you I.E. a public telephone and whatever you do dont pass on your name or address The council are obliged to implement an investigation on the information you have provided - Hope this clears things up for you |
