I've been thinking about a grim scenario....
Lets say somebody comes up to you and starts a (physical)fight with you. In an attempt to defend your self, you fight back. However, lets say a hit causes something that kills the person.
Is that illegal?

It could be voluntary manslaughter, you knew the risk you were taking but weren't attempting to kill the person. It could be justifiable homicide, normally just called self-defense, in that they started it and you were defending yourself. The details can make a LARGE difference. If you punch them in a specific spot trying to shatter bones to kill then you can get in a lot more trouble. On another end say you punched near their stomach and they had an infected appendix and your punch caused it to burst and that killed them, clearly no intent on your part so you wouldn't get in much trouble if any. |

It's called self-defense. As long as you used reasonable force to defend yourself, you're ok.
Legal? Killing someone is not legal, but you have a defense against the allegation (if the state decides to charge you). |

If you are a trained fighter it might. If you are not then it would be considered self defense. Just beat the crap out of them and let them live dude. |
