Is this job really worth it?

Is this job really worth it?

Im currently 19 and in college. I'm working mall security at the moment. The only problem is that their is really no protection in the security industry whatsoever. Their are no laws protecting security officers/guards. It stated in our training manual, that WE would be held liable for our own actions. I'm like (wth), so pretty much the company we work for would not back us up for a minute. What about if im injured or hurt on the job, they could care less This is besides from the constant abuse we get from mall shoppers. I want another job, but b.c the bad shape of our economy, it would be hard to find another job, plus i don't have my degree yet. A word of advice to the wise, stay away from security industry, its not worth it. They even tell us that we cant do anything, all we do is call it on the radio, the job is so stupid, no wonder security gets made fun of lol. The pay sure as hell ain't worth it. Should i just quit, or should i wait until i find another job?

If you are an employee of a security firm and do something wrong, the injured party can sue your employer. Even if you are deemed an independent contractor, an injured party could sue your employer because you are acting on your employer’s instructions.

Find another job before you quit. It’s tough right now, but give it a shot. A bad job may be better than no job at all.

Find another job and then quit. Be ready to tell folks interviewing you why you aren't satisfied with your security job, or -- better -- why you think THEIR job opening would be a better fit for you. You could talk about teamwork, chance for advancement, being able to interact with people in generally happy situations instead of having been called for a problem, etc.
