Well it is a service they provide though it is not ethical they can more than likely get away with it because it is not against the law. |

That is the first I have ever heard of it. Check with local law enforcement. |

They can if they want to, ( no law against it) but of course it is not a good business practice.
Was you sure this was a real salesperson, they got me in Atlanta before at a parking lot, a man there taking money with a apron on, turns out he was just takiing the money, did not work for the lot |

I don't think that is right! It should be free! |

I'm pretty sure it's legal. About all you can do is not shop there anymore. |

You did the right thing. I would have made a statement about the store owners mother. |

I don't think so! You should report that! |

I've never heard of that before. I'd have done exactly what you did. |

I've never heard of it and it is a horrible business practice but my guess is that it is legal. They can run their business as they like and you sound like you made a good decision by leaving. The more business they lose, the more likely it is that they will change. |

Wait a minute...

I do not know the laws in Texas...sorry...but you can call the police station and find out if, a BIG IF it is legal to charge $1.00 just to try on some clothes....Out in CA here, there is no charge to try on clothes!!! so i honestly don't know!!! I know it's the principle of the thing!!!Oh brother!!! |

It is their business & they can do as they please (even if it is really bad business practice) If I were you, I'd call the store manager & ask what is the fee for trying clothes. If the manager tells you that it doesn't cost anything, go back to the store in person & check if the person who tried to charge you is an employee, if he is report him to the manager if not, inform the manager that someone is trying to rip ppl off in his/her store. |

It's legal - just not good buisness.
Likely the salesperson was trying to rip you off... you did the right thing by leaving. |
