In the UK it is illegal for people under 18 to purchase alcohol. At 16 a drink can be bought with a meal although most place are unaware or don't apply this law.
There are no laws governing drinking at home other than those associated with parental responsibility under social care These are discretionary and would usually only be applied if some nosey neighbours reported them and a social worker was assigned to review the case.
What makes we laugh is a child of 14 has the right to become a father but cant buy a pint of lager. Now that is messed up.
In france there is no such laws just common discretion. |

yeah and not only the underage person consuming the alcohol can get in trouble. any person caught supplying alcohol to a minor will get in trouble too.
some people think that if they have their parents permission to drink while underage they can, but they are wrong. it doesn't matter whether you get permission or not you will still get in trouble and your parents can get in trouble for allowing it. |

It is not a crime. You have only commited a crime if you broke a law. Underage drinking is an ordinance and there for a forfeiture of money. A crime is only occurred when you break a law that may incur prison time. |

Not exactly. It depends on places, states, countries.
For instance Ohio law does permit parents, spouses over 21 and legal guardians to provide alcoholic beverages to minors. But the parent has to be present and supervising you at the time the beverage is consumed. It’s not enough for your Mom to say it’s OK with her if you drink. Among other things, she has to be right there with you when you drink. It has to be your parent, guardian or spouse—it can’t be a friend’s parent, etc.
