It is in my book. If someone is operating dishonestly, then they should be reported.

I think its 100% ethical. The law supersedes any company policies or actions. If your employer is breaking the law, it's your duty as a citizen to "blow the whistle" on them.

Yes which is why they are offered protection in law, however, they find it hard to get similar employment after, which explains why its not commonplace.

Yes, it is ethical to report something that is improper. It may be necessary to make the report anonymously, to protect your own interest.

Did you know it can also be a violation of the law for you not to be a "whistle blower." For example, if you saw a hit and run accident, you are required to report it. It depends. If it's a big *** deal, then yes. If it's that the CEO is not a nice dude behind closed doors, than no. Be wary- you did sign nondisclosure agreements........

There is a rule!
A person who whistleblowing his field of expert shall not be returning to his line of job.

e.g. a doctor testified a doctor in court. he shall no longer able to work in the same field again. that y noone is dump regardless it is justice or not.

It's a hard question. The word 'whistleblowing' has positive conotations as it indicates raising the alarm about some wrongdoing.

However it could also be called breaching privacy or a contract to pass information outside an organisation.

It will depend on each case - sometimes keeping secrets is important for national security or for commerical reasons. Other times it is better to report wrongdoing for the good of society.
