It's illegal to try and counterfeit money, but it doesn't sound like that is what someone was doing. Not everyone would take a hundred dollar bill and leave with it.

Yes, it is illegal. But if it does say anything about it being fake some where on there, then it's not, but other wise, it is illegal.

It was probably a plant done by someone who worked in the store, who was watching while you picked it up, and died laughing as you jammed it into your pocket and scrammed out of there. One of my fun ideas was to take a real $20 and epoxy it to the sidewalk so just one corner was loose, then watch people come along and try to pick it up.

In general. people are sneaky, conniving thieves who would steal the shirt off your back if they think they could get away with it.

Yes. Also, birth certificates, and other documents. I have made several copies of my birth certificate over the years before I found out it was illegal. I when I was a kid back int he early 70's and my big brother made a copy of a 1 dollar bill on a new, top of the line copier st a summer job he had. It made both sides copies so it looked just like a real dollar bill. I took it to the car wash and got 4 quarters out of the bill changer!

its not illegal to copy one, its illegal to attempt to use it as legal tender. You see them photographed all the time in magazines and as wrapping paper...

I don't know. but don't generalize. Not everyone would be as dishonest as you. I have returned 5 dollar bills to teachers twice when I found them on the floor, and I ended up getting the money because I was honest.

My friend noticed someone dropped a fifty at a store, and told the clerk immediately, and it was promptly returned to the rightful owners who were very appreciative of having the money they earned returned to them.

Honesty is priceless. Don't sell your soul for money, you'll need it someday.
